Last week when the flight operated the aircraft did in-fact operate MAN-MBA before operating your flight so the time will work out some how.
The aircraft asigned has not shown up yet but the moment it does I or someone else on the forum will let you know.

also when you said the plane to be used hasn't shown up yet, does that mean it may not be the mombasa one? surely if it was thomsons would def know due to the quick turnaround needed

Know I mean its not showing up on the air traffic logs these can be slightly delayed at times thats all.

ok. unless we are delayed i don't see how it can be the mombasa flight, just hope it is not one of the dodgy ones. do they use many similiar standby aircraft?

Please stop worrying. As z.j.c mentions, I beleive it's a hydaulic problem but I wouldn't worry about it. Unless the aircraft is 100% servicable, it won't be leaving the ground. Test flights are undertaken when necassary. An aircraft won't be signed as fit for service unless it was deemed to be by fully qualified engineers, and ultimately the Captain of the flight who will sign for the aircraft. Things such as flaps can be cycled (tested) on the ground so it may not be necassary to undertake a test flight. As I mention, the aircraft won't be put in to service unless it's 100% servicable so don't worry. I've been on a flight where the hydraulics failed and we had to make an emergency landing where we were then delayed 52 hours while a replacement aircraft was made available to bring us home (long story that I'll not go in to here). Flight crew are fully trained to deal with situations such as hydraulic problems. There's nothing for you to worry about though, it's very unlikely anything will happen and you'll have smooth flights. Row 2 have windows. The flight before yours is indeed MAN-MBA-MAN (TOM142/3). G-OOBL is currently operating the flight. I was on that flight in March, the flight time is approximately 10 hours each way.

thanks darren, and to eveyrone who has made such useful posts. the mombasa flight left at 2022, so 20 hours on that makes 1622 tomorrow, plus the time on the groundin mombassa, maybe approx 1 hour? then allows approx 1 hr 40 mins on the ground in the uk. that really is tight but doable i suppose. if it is the same plane then at least hopefully it is all working. do you thnk this means that we are on G-OOBL then? I know you mentioned anothe rplane in an earlier post that we might be on, which had had issues. has the recent history of G-OOBL been healthy? i assume its still in first choice colours is that correct?

I have the aircraft schedule in front of me (as supplied by Thomson Airways). The MAN-MBA-MAN scheduled is as follows:

Flight operations know what they are doing, the aircraft can be turned around quickly between the flights in Manchester. As I was on the TOM142/3 earlier this year, I know there's scope to make up small delays on the turnaround in MBA. The Mombassa flight departed 22 minutes late but has nearly 9,000 miles to fly so may make up or lose time depending on the weather onroute. There's nothing you can do about things so stop worrying! I'm sure your flights will be ontime, unevenful and very enjoyable. You should be flying on G-OOBL. I've flown on G-OOBL a few times, it's a nice aircraft and as reliable as most of the others in the fleet. You'll find photo's on our What Aircraft? guide. All the former FCA aircraft are in the FCA livery with FCA interiors.

i hope you are right. i am sure you are i just hate flying, especially such long ones, but sure the maldives will be worth putting up with the flight. do you think the aircraft is likely to be swapped at all at this point? just hope i am not on one that has had any issues

Its unlikely they will change the aircraft unless it has any problems at mombasa or when it lands in Manchester.

First thing I will say is do not use CAPS it does not make it any quicker.

Do you have the flight number?

The planes rotate so we are not able to tell you the exact plane, however I can tell you the type of plane that operates that flight.

sorry to hear about your delay back from cancun. we got back from cancun to manchester on thursday morning. the flight out was great on the replacement plane. less legroom but they upgraded everyones entertainment for free. anyone who was booked in premier seats were alocated 2 seats each as way of compensation. the return flight was a different matter this was on the original plane which was an ex first choice with 2-3-2 seat config. more legroom but we didnt get to sit together as a family of 4 as booked with thomson and the entertainment system was playing up no sound then it couldn't be upgraded i would have rather been on the replacement plane to be honest. we had no delays and both flights were good so no real complaints. and mexico was fantastic

I have to admit the short hauls IFE was fantastic, they never had to reset it once and it didn't play up at all. I don't know if they have improved the IFE systems on there short haul 767's but it was certainly better then last time I flew long haul with Thomson.
Unfortunately we had to pay for the upgrade!
