Palma Nova has everything you would need! :tup

me and my (ex) went there a good number of years ago and we thought it was ideal for 'our' age!

I would say Cala Ratjada on the North East coast of Majorca. It is predominately a German resort but plenty of decent bars, clubs and restaurants with a relaxed atmosphere.
I wouldn't recommend Palma Nova or Maguluf, unless you like an experience similar to British town centers on a Sat night.

Alcudia for me,best beach, lots of differant parts to to the area ie holiday Alcudia, port area and the old town ,plenty of restaunts and bars and night life ,A holiday town in the main high street but I think something for most people unless you wan't very quiet. Two years ago the music outside stopped at 12pm.

Cala Ratjada ?...hmmmm....speaking as someone who has family who are Germans and we visit Germany (and thoroughly enjoy it) regularly I would say no.
It's like Germany with palm trees, we went into a bar and ordered drinks in Spanish and the waiter looked at us like we were from Mars.
Other places to avoid...
Peguera...same reasons as Cala Ratjada.
Puerto Pollensa, Puerto Soller and Cala San Vicente....no clubs or night life. Laid back bars and restaurants.

Pollensa1946. What's Cala Millor like for clubs and bars? Been to Sa Coma and Cala Bona (and walked through Cala Millor but never had an evening there).

Cala Millor is good as well, but only two or three nightclubs open till 4am. There use to be the 'Karousel' on the sea front that catered for all age groups and had live music alternating with the DJ every 1/2 hour which was good. Certainly plenty of bars catering for either English or German tastes but it generally closes down after midnight unlike Cala Ratjada.
Pollensa - I live in Germany but I think I know what you mean. I don't think Cala Ratjada is as bad as the Playa del Palma but if you need 'clubs' and nightlife I think it restricts the resorts on offer and unless you go out in Palma I think you are going to get the English or German monopoly in a lot of the resorts.

Don't know it well at all, so no idea on life there.

I would recommend Cala Millor. Its where some football teams take their players post season as its well away from Magaluf and not many people know them. Theres loads of bars and restaurants and a fantastic beach. Yes it is very Germanic but that's not a problem for me. In fact in 1994 when we went, loads of the English were singing in a German bar on VE day the song "There's only one Bomber Harris" and the germans even joined in. It was a great night. Brian Clough had a villa there, one evening we went to the Sportsmans Bar, his favourite watering hole, he was just leaving however shook our hands and walked off very unsteady on his feet, he'd been in all day!!!
