i am thinking of going down the same line of holiday aswell for next year. going to find some free time to do a good old search and look for any reviews on what i can find on my searches. I end up getting a headache within an hour.

It was a toss up between the private villa I went to this year in Nerja area of Spain (but up in the foothills) and another villa on a complex called Ladera del Mar, Nerja.

This later one is as you are requesting on a complex of villas that have small private pools but also have a large site pool and other hotel style facilities.

There is also somewhere out side Lagos on the Algarve called Parque da Floresta Villas and Town Houses, where once again you can get a private pool, large pools and facilities.

I think you can get the same at La Manga.

These are not personal recommedations as I haven't stayed in them, just somewhere to reasearch.

Feel obliged to point out that these are not particularly cheap options for holidays. Many of the villas will be on private rental sites, although the first two are in the Cosmos Villas with pools book, and a plus is that if you DIY flights to Spain are numerous and cheap.

I think your best options for what you want to do will be Mainland Spain and the Algarve.

is there many tour ops that do villa holidays? not to bothered about location has i would be willing to drive to got too and from the villa

in the past i have used a company called the real Algarve for villas in the algarve [bit obvious that] excelent service and good properties

Well Thomson definatley do and so do Cosmos. They have dedicated brochures sometimes it is easier to get the brochures first and then get on the website to price up. As there are often codes by the sides of the villas that mean you can price up more easily, otherwise it can be a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack.

There is another big company (they do TV ad campaigns) called James Villas who seem to have been around a number of years.

Lots of folk DIY Villas but I prefer to deal with a company, with abta. atol etc for what it's worth these days. Makes me worry less. But I still worry lol.

just had a quick look at "villa parade" web site thrown in some rough dates for next year and how many people including flights. came up dam good. probley hidden things to add on, will have to delv a bit deeper later on when i can get everyone to aggree who wants to go where and when.

Oddly enough my boss has set off today for a place at Cabanas (Algarve) that could answer the original question. I'm in trouble if it doesn't because I pointed it out to him!! I'll let you know next week.....

I know its quite too late but you can check on Nerja. I heard that they have cheap small apartments and beautiful villas there. Their beaches are crystal clear and has 300 sunshine days a year.

We have just stayed in an apartment in the Rocha Brava complex near Carvoeiro in Portugal. We didn't have a pool but there are villas with private pools on the complex. The main pool of the complex is lovely

Some of these have a private pool

Many years ago we stayed at a spacious villa with pool on a small complex in Javea, Spain which had a bar, restaurant and childrens club. Don't know if it's still going but you could google 'monte verde villas'. Had a great time.

I also remember seeing villas in one of the brochures, maybe Thomas Cook or First Choice Villas where you were in a private villas with pools but could use the facilities, including childrens clubs in nearby hotels. I believe these were in the Balearic Islands.

We also visited a fab hotel this year in Ovacik, Turkey (nr Olu Deniz) where they had hotel rooms, villas and apartments in the grounds and also nearby villas with pools but all guests were able to use the hotel facilities including restaurants, kids clubs etc. The hotel was Club Orka and again I believe Thomas Cook, First Choice & Olympic offer this hotel and its' villas or you can book direct with http://www.orkaclub.com/eng/ourhotel/cluborka.htm
