I doubt they would confiscate the MP4 players. More likely you will be asked to turn off all electronic devices as you start your descent.

1.You can take all the electrical items. The only things you are not allowed is GPS systems and walkie talkies.

2.It is entirely up to you but here is a list of items they love to receive.

Toiletries (shampoo, feminine products, soap, etc)
Candy
Small toys
Pencils
Notepads
Colouring books
Stickers
Perfume
Pantyhose

3.Firstly tipping is a personal thing and you should only tip in CUC's - Cuban Convertible Pesos and I would suggest you tip for good service.
1 CUC (peso) is quite sufficient for most occasions. Remember that is more than the average resort worker earns in a DAY.
The barman I would tip 1 CUC's for every third round of drinks - they, and the chambermaids, do very well out of tips. A la carte restaurants tip 1- 3 CUC's, Buffet restaurants it's up to you, but I would say 1-2 CUC's depending on service and of course the number of people in your party.
I would suggest that 5 CUC's is the maximum to tip on any one occasion.

4. Excursions depend on which part of the isand you are visiting.

I also took toothpaste and tooth brushes as you can pick up a pack of 10 adults and 10 childrens brushes quite cheaply.

I took gardening gloves from the £1 shop, and cosmetics, party bag packs of little felt pens and colouring books, bouncy balls and sweets. Which you can pick up off ebay.

I always tip at the start of the holiday and then you are well looked after for the whole of your stay.

I tip alternately with money and gift, every other day. Please do remember though that the maids get 90% of all gifts and that the waitresses, gardeners, bar staff and entertainers will be just as appreciative of any gift.
