I have booked a holiday with TC in late November for a week. I booked last week, and am planning on getting my travel insurance before I travel. There is no need to get it just after I booked is there?
You need to get your travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday. This will cover you if you need to cancel for any reason before you travel.
The web is littered with stories of people who were going to sort out their insurance "nearer the time", only for themselves or a family member to be diagnosed with a serious illness which was totally unforeseen. All of these people lost all their money and some of them were very expensive trips.

Thanks Kath and Luci, I will get onto it. I guess I have always been lucky in the past, and always book DIY. This is my first time booking a package holiday.

and if you scan back through the complaints [and other forums ] there are many cases where people have booked holidays and not insurance at the time [whether with or independent] of tour operators and come unstuck.. also remember with insurance you only get what you pay for.. you may get a cheap one but in many cases they are not worth having

Got the message Wizard Have read the travel insurance thread, and know where you all are coming from.
Anybody else having problems with the Thomas Cook booking system? Getting to the page where you add the names of travellers, clicking continue and it's coming up with an odd 'internal server error' message.
Mr Jane Smith
On the one hand T. Cook are saying she has to pay €12 to change the title as it must agree with her passport.
HOWEVER....., on looking at my passport there is no title listed....., only the name which in her case is correct.
Does she really need to change the ticket?????.
Cheers,
Jinty
Now obviously Mr is a differnt gender so may be that might the prob as to why they say she has to change it but like you say your passport doesnt even list your title!
first of all thank you for accepting me into this community. The wife and I are booked to travel to fungerola in a few weeks time from Belfast, northern ireland for 2 weeks, half board. The holiday was booked and paid for in a thomas cook office approx 10 days ago............the lady said she was using this flexible trips thingy , and had used it many times..........I now read that the flight by easyjet doesnt allow seat alocation on check in, ( a first for me ), and that a "shuttlebus" would pick us up at malaga airport to take us to the resort hotel.........normally in the past it would be a matter of looking around for the thomas cook rep at the airport, and perhaps the thomas cook sign being shown at front of the appropiate coach.............Has anyone recently booked with thomas cook, using this " flexibletrips " thingy ?? lol.............Booked and paid for 10 days ago, and still no confimation letter received............again thats new for me............Any commenst would be helpful, and thanks again.........sorry for the long waffle
I'm travelling with flexible trips next week. Never used this before either.
I believe that you will still go to the Thomas Cook rep on arrival and they will point you in the right direction for your shuttle bus.
Cant help with the easyjet flight never flown with them.
My booking was made on line and I received all my info and tickets by email.
Have a lovely holiday
Lynn
in the evening there has allways been good musical entertainment for dancing.
i smile to myself as i type this reply because, as a musician myself, it was at this hotel one evening 5 years ago, that I witnesssed a drummer, who was " dummy drumming " ie ......not playing a single live note lol............I have seen quite a few keyboardists, but this was a first ref a drummer. Unfortunately in my experience of other keyboard players, there are more and more of them dummy fluting so to speak...........Not playing a live note...............runnung their fingers over the notes, but using midi file stuff instead............I could go on and on about this subject, but perhaps this isnt the place................again thank you
harry
ps lynn.........i hope that your own trip soon goes well..........i would be interested to read your comments on your return, if you didnt mind adding
Hi , just got a good result today at my local thomas cook shop. Been watching my mexico holiday for months now on the internet and got panicky as the price started rising for the particular holiday I wanted, so this morning, first thing, checked it again, printed of the page, then hotfooted it down to my local TC shop and asked them if they could do any better or match it and my little hero of a bloke got me £240 quid off the internet price !! so, being cheeky, I asked if he could get me free sitting together, and he was able to knock a further £10 off that ! result ! so I'm well chuffed with our shop and the service, so I think we should all give our local travel agents a chance instead of straight away just booking off the internet.
I havent a printer so she checked the web site and gave me the web price and 20kgs luggage allowance.
I then booked an extra night with Med hotels through Hays travel as our flight doesnt leave until 4.50am.It was less than what the hotel charges for a late check out room until 7pm.
A few days later I checked the price of the hotel we stayed in this May for next year and when I saw the web price I went back to TC and booked it with the same agent. Paid for them both with a Thomas Cook credit card as they dont charge a CC charge.
Hi jay, I too booked with my thomas cook credit card, a godsend, given there's no charge, saved a few bob !! actually, having realised we had to pay the remainder of the holiday on 28th december, not great, my little great guy at thomas cook suggestested hubby take out a thomas cook cretid card just before xmas to get the 3 months interest free, great idea, and means we get more points !!
If you book a Thomas Cook holiday on-line with a Thomas Cook credit card, do you still get no credit card fees or does that just apply when you go in a Thomas Cook high street travel agents to book ?
Thanks to anyone that knows

Thomas Cook credit card is free when you book online too. When you go to the payments page, there is a drop down list of credit cards and TC card is listed seperately on there.
I have always found though, if you printout the online offer and take it into a TC shop they will always better the price - worth a try?
