Prettypollycat,

I was pricing up a holiday 2 days ago for my son and his girlfriend on both Thomas Cook and Directholidays and was surprised to see 'your choice-your seat' in the quote, but on going back into both sites today that info does not come up anymore, all I can asume is they have now taken it off the website quotes. :que

Shirley,

Have you seen it still there over the last day.?

Angie.

Your seat your choice, seems to only be on the Direct holidays website and you can deselect this option to reduce the quote.
DH prices for next year are coming in dearer than TC IMO,
maybe because of these extra add ons so it's a good thing to be aware of.
It is still coming up, I have just done a quote but maybe it's only certain holidays it applies to.

What destination can you see the 'your seat-your choice' option on?

And at what point in the booking process can you see it?

As I stated in my earlier post, I did a dummy booking right up to the point of being asked for passenger names etc - and no mention of 'your seat - your choice' at all at that point.

Everybody should do the full price break down and that will show you if your seat your choice has been charged for and its only if you are flying with TC

Not sure if this makes a difference but you have to book your seats together first and then you can pay extra to book "your seat, your choice".

Direct holidays are given the option on 7 and 14 nts holidays your seat your choice for £14 pp but they are automatically adding it the booking and people are paying for the extra without knowing and I am sure many would rather have the money off the holiday.

I just checked my flight for the 4th aug and nobody has taken the option and it must be the reason they are pushing it for next year at a reduced price. Poor TC are not making any money at of the service. Family of 4 short haul £24 pp it would cost an extra £96, I am sure mum and dad would rather spend the money on a few drinks or a excursion. Mid haul is £26 and long haul is £32. Does it cost any extra in administration cost booking a short haul or long haul and it probably does not cost anymore in administration costs to sitting together, if costs anything at all providing the service. When you progess with the booking there are loads more extra's like priority check in £15 pp, extra 5kg luggage if you didn't select at the time of booking £35 pp. These tour ops know how to make a few bob out of nothing.

Here's an example - East Midlands to Lanzarote 6/5/10 for 7 nights <Direct Holidays> Sirroco apartments.
It's at the bottom of the page when you get a quote under holiday extras and you can tick this option which will reduce the cost.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing - I'm VERY confused about this and am wondering if I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick (or if I've even got hold of a stick at all :rofl ).

After clicking on 'Get Quote' what I can see under 'Holiday Extras' is an option to select 'seats together Mid-Hl' at a cost of £12 per person.
This is not pre-selected (as you seem to be saying it is on your quote.
I don't seem to be getting the same quote as you are. :que

I thought 'your seat - your choice' was a chargeable extra ON TOP of paying for 'sitting together' where you could actually choose your specific seat - exactly as Kath the mod says below.

PP are you looking at the week before? (which is on the same page) as that is coming up as you describe but 6/5/10 is coming in with the seat your choice option. :que

6th May 2010 is showing (under 'Holiday Extras'):
'seats together' as an option - but it isn't selected.
Looking at the 'total price breakdown', it's not charging any extra.

If I select it (tick the box), under 'total price breakdown', it's added £12 per person.

13th May 2010 is showing (under 'Holiday Extras'):
'no yr seat yr choice' +£0.00 - and there isn't a tick in the box.
BUT if you look at the 'total price breakdown' it's charging £14.00 per peson for 'your seat your choice'.
There's no additional charge for 'seats together' - which is what Kath says it should do and what I'd expect it to do.

Why I can't see the same thing as you for the 6th May is crazy. :que

Confusing as hell to me. :think
I feel like I'm in the Twighlight Zone - cue spooky music.... :rofl
Anyway, I've had enough - I think I'm going to go to Blackpool instead.

I posted a thread this morning - 60-65 years old? - under the Holiday Hints and Tips.
See Thomas Cook are now classing Seniors as 60+ instead of 65+ - therefore the insurance if you are between 60-65 can double.
First Choice are still classing Seniors as 65+.

Don't use tour ops insurance, there is better and cheap insurance to be had.

German tourists can now reserve their poolside recliners before they have even left home.

What a joke, the tour ops have found another way to squeeze money out of you. I think this is disgusting because its saying the germans are more important than everybody else, whatch the compliants role in from TC customer from other countries, basically means with hotels in turkey around antalya where there are a lot of germans all the sunbeds will be reserved before anybody gets there. I wish all hotels brought a strict no reserving policy, it would stop the people putting towel down going out for the day and coming back never using the sunbed.
