Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi,

Newcastle airport just announced 5 new routes - Sharm, Turkey, Crete, Cyprus and Gran Canaria. The seat selection option on these new flights has 6/7 rows of extra leg room seats at the front, can you tell me what type of plane this will be as all previous Jet2 flights I have been on had just 1 row at the front. Will this be a bigger plane and do these planes have any IFE? An example I looked at was Newc to Dalaman, June 2010, LS561/2. Mon and Fri flights both had same flight code - is this normal?

Thanks

camel,

The aircraft in question are Boeing 757-200's. The aircraft they intend on using on the longer flights are the wingletted versions (currently G-LSAB/C) and have a greater number of extra legroom seats available at the front of the aircraft. They still don't have IFE. It's common for the same flight but on different days of the week to share the same flight number.

Got flights booked and have a little query. We were charged for online checkin but in the past because my husband needs wheelchair assistance we have not been allowed to do this. Has anyone ever done online booking with this option.

I have looked for the fares from Newcastle for May 2010, and the taxes are too high as per usual with low budget cost airlines. I wish they would incl the taxes before you start booking!!!
I think I will stick with packages hols.

Well I never.
I booked my flight with JET2 for next July flying from LBA to MAH and I have just received an email informing me that the flight times have been changed (already). There is probably only me that has booked this far in advance (only joking).
Must admit though when I saw the subject title on the email "Important notice about your Jet2.com flight booking" I was a bit worried as I travel with them in 5 weeks time too.

Have checked on "manage my booking" and everything is hunky dorey.
Not to worry, alls well that ends well (I hope) :rofl

Just returned from Ibiza, we flew both ways with Jet 2. We found them ok, flights ontime going out and on our return. We did online check in on both legs of the journey but suprized that outbound we had to queue for the bag drop only for around 20 mins though. Seat were fairly comfy and we didn`t feel has hemmed in as some of the flights we have een on before. Drinks I thought we a bit too expensive and snacks but service was ok.

Will fly with them again in the near future.

I'm in the process of trying to track down flights out of Manchester to Tenerife flying out on Saturday 10th and back Saturday 17 October 2009. I know that I won't get cheap flights at this sort of notice and was just looking for the cheapest out of what's still available. An added complication is that they need to be at times that are suitable for connecting with the ferry from Los Christianos to La Gomera.

Jet2 have suitable flight times for us but the tickets are coming up much cheaper on Travel Republic than trying to book direct with Jet2 on their own website! Is this common with them? I've taken both booking processes as far as I can on their respective websites and booking via Travel Republic seems to work out at over £40 cheaper per head than booking on the Jet2 website - mainly because the TR price includes checked in baggage (which the Jet2 site adds an extra charge for) and because TR don't charge the exhorbitant fee that Jet2 do for using a credit card. As there are three of us travelling, the Jet2 price works out at more than £130 extra overall!

Before I book through TR am I missing something here? Have I forgotten to take account of something?

Jet2 have today announced the opening of a new base as East Midlands Airport

I saw this on the evening news and was very excited, best news I've had holiday wise for some time. I had to trek to Leeds/Bradford to fly to Egypt with Jet2 in April, now I can just hop in the car and be at EM in 40 mins :tup

Excellent news and the only slight disappointment is that the Cyprus flights are to Paphos & not Larnaca :(

All the same it's made my day

Booked with Jet2 for a flight from Blackpool to Faro. Website was easy to follow. Wanted to fly out and come back this August and their site showed all the prices and flights available.

Couldn't beleive my luck. Most quotes were about £800-900 for a family of 4. Jet2 were 99p going out and £119 coming back + taxes.
Total cost was £630 which seemed reat value. Sadly thats were it ended. WE had to pay for luggage at a further cost of £90. We then ad to pay another £56 to prebook our seats.

Another problem was we didn't read the small print (does anyone??) and because we hadn't checked in online we had another £60 to pay there and back. Quite why you have to pay this amount just because I didn't print off the online checking is beyond me. Finally to add insult to injury we then had to pay another £30 towards Blackpool airport develepmont fund ?? EH :cry

From a cheap flight it was now costing me £900. Surely ABTA or whowever should do something about this. They make out there a cheap airline but fact is they look at all ways of screwing money off you in other ways. :duh

Sounds like every other airline to me. The base fare you see these days gives you a seat. Expect EVERYTHING else to cost extra.

I'm not saying its right but its certainly not exclusive to Jet2!

Just look at the airlines that offer these services as part of the price, most are in dire straits, while the low cost carriers continue to hold their heads above water (except SkyEurope it seems)

People perception makes them see the base fare and book, and then like you they get caught out by the small print.

I think these posts will be moved shortly as there is a dedicated thread for Jet2 comments.

In this life, you get what you pay for and if it seems a bargain you can guarantee that they will claw the money back another way.

Another new route for Jet2. They announced today the introduction of a new Blackpool to Jersey service commencing 28th May 2010. More details here.

Even with all the add ons the total price is still usually a lot cheaper than the non budget carriers though hence why they can still claim to have low fares.
