There will certainly be no harm in e-mailing requesting a room at the front of the hotel, but are you aware that there is an additional cost for pool view rooms.
We have booked previously with Thomas Cook, Travel Republic, Alpha Rooms and direct with the hotel and have always been advised when booking of the differing costs and asked if we wish to pay extra for a pool view.
If all the pool view rooms have not been allocated already to those who have paid extra to book them, you may be lucky enough to get one, though the hotel may impose the supplement to upgrade.
We actually tried to book for 22nd September, direct with the hotel but were advised the entire hotel was fully booked.
I think the extra cost for a pool view is 2€ per person per day. Not too bad for a couple going for a week but adds up if there are children and going for 2 weeks.
I personally think the extra cost is worth it. Although we couldn't get the hotel for September, we have booked for Christmas & New Year.
think i will pay it , as ive heard the back of the hotel dosnt get much sun , even though its quieter.
Not sure when you are going but in the latter months of the year I think Playa 2 gets more sun during the day than Playa 1, though late in the evening the opposite would be true.
The back of the hotel will be quieter with less people passing at night but it faces a busy road with a lot of traffic noise. The front of the hotel looks on to John & Joseph's and there are always taxis passing at all hours but there is not the same volume of traffic. If you like the sun during the morning/early afternoon request Playa 2. If you prefer late afternoon/ evening request playa 1.
The pool view also gives you the option of watching the evening entertainment round the pool from your balconyduring the summer months. I think that is until the end of September.
Hope you enjoy your holiday.

i was there last year , and was put into a room just above the western saloon bar , and that was very noisy till 3 am , so i would like a room a bit further from there , so is it playa 2 i ask for ?
Playa 2 is the one that the western saloon is under Tartanscone.
thank you freethepain , so its ambassador playa 1 i will be asking for .
You might get the noise from j js and talk of the coast aswell as the chicken and morgans lol. Get some ear plugs or stay out all night hehe.
Playa 2 is the one nearest the Western Saloon. Have to say noise from Western never bothered us but never been at height of summer.
Thanks Tartanscone. Have a great time.
Tartan i was in playa 1 room 206 looked onto the ruidor and the chicken .. The room was fantastic could sit and listen to the singers from the chicken but it got very hot sitting out in the balcony you get the sun there all day mazza
How long does it take for a email reply from the staff here? Thank you.
i got a reply within 2 hours.
someone told me you have to pay for the air conditioning now ...that cant be right .
If you get a room with a remote controlled aircon you pay for the remote but get it back when you hand the remote back.
took me a while to work out how to actually use the aircon but worth getting it!!!
seems a bit of a rip off , 15 euro for a aircon remote , say another 20 euro for a fridge , 20 euro for a safe , and another 40 odd euro for a pool view ....i can see me staying in at night with a carry-out
Whats the entertainment like now at the Ambassador? With drinks prices that they are charging in the clubs it may be a better option to stay around/visit other hotels when you can get a beer and a short plus mixer for say 5.50
Thanks....Caz
Caz you can smoke in the balcony and theres the smoking bit thats inbetween ambassador 1 and 2 cheers mazza
