Flights are transfers are full price for children and this is usually a large part of the price.
thought that might be the answer, thanks for your reply
What are your thoughts on this please? Has anybody seen or stayed in one of these rooms? Also, would I have a valid complaint if I showed the receptionist my invoice?
Thanks
hi i have also read about these dungeon rooms and really hope i dont get one, i have written a letter to thomsons to request they dont give us a dungeon room as it will be me and a five year old who suffers from asthma and i am very chlosterphobic just getting on a plane scares the life out of me,they probably wont beliveve us but i will refuse to take it if it happens as others have done.
HI bluey, does your invoice state that your room will have balcony or terrace? I'm hanging on to the hope that since my invoice says I'll have either of these, they won't be able to give me a basement room
hi my invoice states i twin room with shower,wc,balcony.

There you go then - Can't have a balcony attached to a dungeon
I think Thomson should mention these rooms in their brochures and be honest. Still, I tried to get back an amendment charge they invoiced me for changing a hotel for next year because of bad reviews, and they refused. I have lost alot of respect for the company since they merged with First Choice.

No, don't mean the Karbel Beach hotel. I understand that's a different hotel to the Karbel and there's also a Karbel Sun if I'm not mistaken. It's strange that the Karbel and Karbel Beach both have these dungeon rooms
Another point in worth mentioning is, the picture in First Choice brochure for the Karbel Beach Hotel is not the right picture, its actually the Karbel Hotel. When I booked last year for this May, I was expecting the Karbel Hotel but was pleasantly surprised when we got to resort as the Karbel Hotel is too big and the Beach one where we ended up, is just the right size - just my opinion though.

I wonder if its due to the way they are situated up the slight incline of the high road ? It might be to do with maximising the space, hopefully you wont get one anyway shirley, but you could always email a few days before you are due to go asking for a nice room.
Yes I was going to e-mail closer to the date. Hopefully, if I ask for 2nd or 3rd floor I should be ok. Plenty of time to go yet
Both times Ive been to Olu Deniz I have had a brief wonder round the Karbel and have always thought that if I ever go back and want to stay BnB that is the hotel I would chose. It looks nice to me. but that is just from a five min walk around, plus dropping people off there when we stayed at the Belcekic Beach Hotel, its very well located for all the bars and restaurants.
Glad you liked it's appearance. It's got very good reviews apart from some worries about these basement rooms. I'm not going to spend time worrying about them though, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Hi, We have stayed at the Karbel and it is a lovely hotel. Many of the hotels in Olu Deniz have basement rooms and it is always a dread of mine to stay in one, I always email the hotel a week before we go and really wonder if this does actually work unless you have booked direct with the hotel! We went to the Magic Tulip this year and I emailed but when we arrived we were taken to our room and started to go down steps me and my husband both stopped told the boy to take our cases back to reception and refused to go in one!! I was saying to reception I emailed you I can't go in basement room in the end we were given a lovely room on top floor, I knew the hotel was not full as they were still advertising rooms! Hope you are lucky if you are given one make sure they know you want moving asap. Also the basement rooms do have a terrace/balcony just below ground level!
Trouble is, someone has to go in those rooms. There will be those who are unlucky and not aware of them beforehand.

That's true but if they're so bad you'd think the hotel would be fed up of having complaints about them all the time. Don't you think it would be a better option if they charged less for these rooms. They must be of a reasonable standard surely and maybe somebody on a budget would rather book them at a discounted price. At least that way, they'd know what they were getting.
I totally agree but you should also blame Thomson/First Choice/Thomas Cook about it too and unless they do not get enough complaints, they wont do anything about it.
