Hi inquisitiveViv

es the service lasts about 15 - 20 mins and you can use your own CD's, the town hall have a number of CD's available. Please be aware this year they only have a CD player (basic) and it does not play MP3's

Hi inquisitiveViv

I got married in Ayia Napa town hall in May 09, was a great day was only me and the missus..no stress perfect day.
Agree with taxis, very expensive we had about a 3 min journey and was 8 euro. Look into the affidavit, I contacted about 4 soloicitors and got mixed responses, one wanted to charge me over £200, one didnt understand what I was talking about. In the end we got one drawn up then had to take it too another solicitor to get it signed, was a nightmare as we only gave ourselves about 2 weeks to get it sorted.

Apart from that im sure you will have an amazing time, and one thing you can pretty much gaurantee is the sun will be shining

Good Luck!!

We had our meal up outside the lighthouse, Meze meal and it was fab. Word of warning though, there is tons of food and it's all beautiful. I think there were about 8 or 9 courses!! My hubby had made up a few cds and we just had them playing over the sound system and didn't bother going with a dj. Just as well, as the meal didn't finish till about 10pm!!haha There was space to have some dancing after the meal and that was good for us. The party went on till 12.30am and then we went to the beer garden at the front of the hotel, they put the lights out on us (about 3am). Yes it was an amazing day/night.

Ann_G... glad to hear you had a wonderful wedding at the Aliathon, my self and my partner are getting wed there in april2010, and was wondering how much they charged for the receptionoutside the ligthouse? we have the same amount of guests as you did and were looking for something similar, ive heard lots of horror stories about them charging loads of money for the reception..

thanks in advance

Hi sarahjanec

There are plenty of taverna's around the Aloe and you have time to scroll through them all during your weeks stay, but you may find the best ones to be already booked.

Just take your time and check them all out during your stay and I am sure you will find one to your liking

From todays (Sat 21st Nov) Cyprus Mail...

A PROPOSED ban on foreigners marrying in hotels under the guise of wedding tourism, which upset the mayors of Ayia Napa and Paralimni on Thursday was only to clamp down on bogus marriages, the Union of Cyprus Municipalities, UCM said yesterday.

EU couples will continue to be allowed to tie the knot in Cyprus' seafront hotels, it said.

The confirmation came after reports that Ministry of Interior was drafting a bill to ban hotel weddings, where most tourists tie the knot when they wed on the island.

Andreas Christou, UCM Chairman, said yesterday: "The law on marriages will not be changed, and British or European citizens will still be able to come to Cyprus to marry."

Hi All!!

We are planning our wedding in cyprus in August 2011, we have chosen the Adams beach hotel and the beautiful chappel on the grounds, but after reading a couple of reviews i am starting to get a bit worried. I have read that the Adams beach hotel treats weddings like a conveyor belt, understandably this is going to be one of the most important days of our life so i would hate for it to be made to feel this way. Does anyone know or anyone been to a wedding here that could tell me first hand?

Also, i would like to book the wedding independantly without using a tour operator if i can and save a few pounds in the process but in all honesty i havent got a clue where to start!! So i would be so greatful for any hints tips or advice that anyone could offer, local wedding planner, photographer ect....

We have quite alot of family comming out to be with us on our big day and i have also been given the job of finding alot of them accomodation, we are looking into renting villa's, anyone reccomend any good sites to look on? Infact is there anyone out there that would like to just plan my whole wedding for me and we will just show up on the day? ha ha ha

Our wedding is still 19 months away and i can already feel myself turning into bridezilla!! :)

We are thinking about getting married in cyprus next year, but one thing that confuses us is where it states we need our original birth certificates. This might sound like a strange question, but does original birth certificate mean literally the 1 your parents were issued with when you were registered as a baby, or will a copy from the registrars office suffice? ie 1 you haven't photocopied, but 1 that has been reissued to you. Thank you x

we took our originals which wasnt a problem not sure of copies will bo ok, dont forget the sworn affadavit as well, that was the problem for us trying to find a solicitor that would do it.

There are 2 types of birth certificates, a small one and a Full one, You will need to produce the latter Full Birth Certicate

Daughter as just had her affidavit signed cost 5 pounds each, her planner sent by email the form, all they had to do was print it out and get it signed by a solicitor, full birth certificate is just the large one you can get at the register office

We got married last year. My husband had to have a new birth certificate issued as someone had wrote on his original from birth one!!!! No questions were asked. Enjoy.
