Hi Folks! It's that time again to plan our holiday in Turkey in 2010! We quite fancy a trip to Lara beach and one of the AI's there, cheapest we found was the Sherwood Breezes, have read some of the reviews which seem ok, any one here been to this hotel? The next one up on the price scale is the Lara beach hotel but again don't know much about it, I'm assuming this is not the Barut lara beach? Any info about these hotels or lara beach itself would be great!

Hi Alastir.
We are in a similar situation to you. We are looking for a week AI in August for next year. Looking at Lara and Belek. We've never been to turkey before, and are taking our time doing our research. We've already booked a diy to eqypt for next June, and cant really afford to book another holiday just yet, even though it's likely if we book now we may get a better deal!
Any idea when you're going to book and who with?
We are thinking we might do a package, booking boxing day or even early January when I've been told prices tend to drop. At the moment, i'll continue my painstaking research till I find what we're looking for:-)
Let me know how you get on, and any tips on location/when to book ect would be very welcome.

Hi! Lara Beach is somewhere we haven't been previously, our first choice would have been the Hemera in Side but Thomas cook and others are pricing it out of our range. We generally book with TC more out of habit than anything else, however this time I will trawl around to find us a deal we can live with. Turkey is fab!!!! You will love it!

We stayed in Sherwood Breezes in March this year, the hotel itself it nice with a private beach, the food is good and typical of the hotel food in turkey which I do enjoy. We usually stay around the Side area and my honest opionion is that Lara area doesn't even come close. There isn't really anywhere to take a walk to, there are a couple of shops along the duel carriageway and the dolmus stops outside the hotel. The whole area is made up of high rise buildings and I think it is the place that a lot of people would say is how they would imagine beruit to look.

The staff in the hotel are quite friendly and the rooms are kept clean. As is usual in Turkey there are a lot of German and Russian guests but thats expected when you go to turkey isn't it.

All in all I can't say the holiday was a bad one, but I wouldn't want to go back there but at the end of the day its all a matter of personal choice and maybe you'll love it !

We are off to Marmaris tomorrow, never been round that side of turkey before , just interest to see how a more commercial area runs.

Anyway, whereever you go hope you have a great time

Catcherof carp. There is not a lot to do outside of the Hotel and there are no boat trips.Lara Beach is only a few years old and is still being developed.Boat trips are from The harbour in Antalya which is in Kalechi the old town. The Dolmuş ( Bus ) will take you there.Don't know if they have any water sports but doubtful. If you take the bus and ask the driver to drop you off at Örnekköy which is about five minutes from the hotel you can find everything that you want there.Bus will cost you 1.5 Lira each so won't break the bank.Once you get off the bus head for the Hotel Sera and then you are in Örnekköy.Taxi back to the Hotel will cost you about 10 / 12 Lira.Have a good holiday.

We went to Sherwood breezes, end of july 2009.There are boat trip's also watersport's on the beach,we booked our boat trip from the lady on the hotel's beach,we paid at that time myselve and daughter 17yrs 40euro that encluded food on the boat drink's extra we took water as the weather was very hot(great).the trip was stop 3 off's swim in the sea, then you had 2hour's in Antalya free time then your return journey back to hotel was by bus,we enjoyed our dayout but it was very long so bus back worked well,Antalya was nice but watch out some shop worker's try to pull you into the shop then it is hard to get back out.Sorry dont know price of watersports hope this helps get in touch if you need anymore info i will try to help as best as i can enjoy we did. :sun2 :cheers
