I've just got back from a two week holiday at the Forever Club in Bodrum and thought I'd post some advice/tips for others that might be travelling soon. I'm not sure whether these points have been raised in other threads but it might be easier having them all together.
1) Currency - most places accept £ and € and Turkish Lira, the exchange rate over here is about 2.3 lira to the £. In Bodrum you will get 2.4 from most shops and our Thomas Cook rep told us about a place that did an exchange rate of 2.5. So wait until you get there before changing your money.
2) Dolmus - cost us €2.50 a trip for two people. The price in lira is 2.20 each.
3) Pandora charms (one for the ladies) - Shops in Bodrum sell these for £8 each, make sure you check charms as some of the ones they sell as Pandora are actually Love Links and just slide onto the bracelet rather than screwing onto the bracelet.
4) Trips - as I've read many times on here booking a trip in the resort rather than through the rep is far cheaper, as an example a Turkish Bath through a place in Gumbet was £4 (it cost £10 through Thomas Cook).
5) Liquids at the airport - Bodrum airport let you take drinking water in your hand luggage, our rep did not tell us about this but was then selling bottles of water for 50p on the coach to the airport.
6) Duty free - 200 cigarettes cost €19 (cheaper than they are on the plane), two litres of Jamesons whisky cost €24 (£21). At the airport the Duty Free shops display the same prices in Euros but the shop on the left uses a better exchange rate to convert to £.
If I think of anymore tips I will add them.
many thanks - we fly out on monday so this has been very helpfull
you can tell by the quality & the suitcase, never had the eiffel tower on,in all the shops,i went into.
i manage a pub & one of my customers, bought me a dolphin charm, from olu deniz,as soon as,i opened it,i knew it was fake, but had to put it on my bracelet,to be polite.anyway,i took my bracelet, into the pandora shop,to be cleaned last week & the lady pointed it out, straight away.so £8 or not,i don't want any fake charms,on my bracelet!
i would rather them,be honest with you, instead of them trying to pass them off,as authentic!
just my opinion
tracy
