Hi, just returned rom Malta and had good meals at the following:-
Da Rosi, St Pauls Bay
Piesces marsaxxloc (I know thats not how you spell it)
Il Bari Mgarr
Moby dick Xlendi
Armier Bay Beach (Roberts place)
The maltese Cross Buggiba
The best was da Rosi by a long way
When We came home this time in my hand luggage was;-
3 malta loaves
3 packs of frozen pastizzi (still frozen when we got home)
Several packs of galletti biscuits
Peppered Gozo cheese
6 cans cisk
I made maltese bruscetta annd bigilla and we had a family Malta night on Tuesday and i did a Malta buffet for staff at work on wednesday. I felt that I was still on holiday
I still have cheese and pea cakes in the freezer so if Sliema is in Mossley in the near future I will serve them in the cafe for him
Just as an extra bit of useless information..... I have been on a diet and lost 2 stone since end of April
....I put 6 pounds on in 10 days in Malta

how did you get Cisk though as hand luggage ?
Did you drink them just before going through security ?

We bought the cisk in the airport shop.
there's a thought....... do they sell Farsons Lacto airside ?
How odd, I've not actually been to Malta but I've had
malta loaves (hobz)
pastizzi (the little cheese pastrys)
galletti biscuits (hard/crisp biscuits.. only just got to try them, my mate wasn't for giving them up..lol)
Peppered Gozo cheese (also some non-peppered as well)
must be the things that are easiest to bring back I suppose...
(dried broadbeans as well !.. oh and capers...)

Has anyone tried the Mongolian BBQ in Bugibba and knows when it is open during Winter hours (end Feb/early March)?
We've been to the one in Manchester and also in Bergen and have often fancied trying the one by the Square in Bugibba but have mostly been on half board so not really had the opportunity. This next time though, we would like to give it a go - so opening times, prices and feedback would be greatly appreciated

I have been to the Monglian buffet in Bugibba, 2 years ago. It was lovely. You get little bowls, you pick your meat, spices, veg etc and give it to the chef who cooks it in front of you. You get menu cards which tell you what dishes need what spices and you can have as much or as little as you like. Very nice.
Fort Ferretti Restaurant, Qajjenza, Birzebbuga. I recommend trying this new Italian restaurant just opened up near my apartment. The fort has been tastefully converted into a lovely restaurant with inside and outside seating. Outside seating is on decking under huge parasols. A further area lower down is covered with white stones with easy seating and sofas to relax after dining. Surrounding the Fort is a moat with beautiful fish, lit up. The view is of St. Georges Bay and looking across to the Freeport. Starters are about 5 Euros, Main Courses start at 7 Euros upwards to 20 plus. The menu was mostly in Italian. I had lasagne which was very good (best I've had in Malta - it was actually hot in the middle!). My father had a chicken dish with vegetables. Hubby had lasagne and step mother had those big pasta parcels. All food was beautifully served, but not big portions, which suited me. We did not have dessert or wine, but 4 meals, 4 drinks and 4 coffees came to just over 50 Euros. It wasn't busy when we went but they recommend you book. Speciality seemed to be fish, cooked in tin foil which they bought to your table and served for you. Pizzas looked good too (but not as good as Qajjenza bar up the road). Staff were attentive and polite, music was bloody awful! Highly recommended for a special night out. Directions, follow main road (Ghar Dalam Road) toward Birzebbuga. Take left turn past Villa Overhills, take next left. Follow road down to sea front and restaurant is on the right. plenty of parking nearby. Enjoy.
Mona (of Mona's Meals column), the best known restaurant critic in Malta, gave Ferretti 0/5 only a couple of weeks ago, the first time she's ever given a zeroin nine years of her weekly newspaper column

Blank page Mark. You have to use the search button with the restaurant name. http://www.planetmona.com/index.php?id=135&no_cache=1
my link is correct if you cut and paste it, but not if you click it - for some reason the latter half of the address isn't linking
And then read the comments below, some of which are clearly from people connected to the restaurant who just dig themselves deeper and deeper
