Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.

Booked a return flight to Barcelona for next June, used the FREEBAG thing at checkout. When the transaction completed, I had still been charged for baggage (£19.98). I immediately phoned customer support to be told there was nothing they could do except offer a "discretionary" cancellation which would cost me £40!!!! I have written to them asking why their voucher code wasn't honoured but am not holding my breath.

So beware when using this, make sure it shows £0.00 for baggage after you've put the code in.

That'e disgusting... false advertising. I'd take it further. :(

On another note, I did read in a national paper today that Jet 2 among others but not Ryanair have a policy in place where you have a 24 period to be able to ammend a booking free of charge that you have made a mistake with say... you put your middle name down instead of your surname for example.

Ryanair charge £70.00 for ammendments, day light robbery!!

I Am Not Sure If There Are Facilities At The Airport, I Would Imagen Not.

Could You Go To Your Local Library To Print Them Out ?

When im pricing with jet2 it automatically adds on online check in, is this non optional?
Ive never done this before im guessing it means you check in online and print out a boarding card but then what happens at airport surely you still have to queue to check in with passports and luggage (i will have hold luggage) so therefore i dont see the point of it?
I thought online check in was more for people with just hand luggage.

Also how do you book an infant that as yet has no name or gender? ie not born lol

Lastly do they have entertainments onboard and meals ? or are they like an easyjet flight?

Thanks

vicky06,

On-line check-in is by default as it's the easiest way, I use it all the time when available. You can change it on the details section when you go through the booking process, the tab that's titled 'Baggage:- Airport or Online check-in'. There's a £3 charge whichever option you go for if checking bags in. The only free check-in method is online with hand luggage only. If you have hold luggage, you just need to check your luggage in at the baggage drop off desk, just take your printed boarding card and passport with you. The printed boarding card will be A4 in size with a bar code at the bottom. That's scanned at security and the lower portion of the boarding card will be removed at the gate.

Jet2 are a low coast airline so they are like Easyjet, although you have allocated seating rather than the 'easy-scrum' at boarding. They don't have IFE installed on their aircraft and meals can either be pre-ordered or sandwiches and other snacks are available for purchuse. You'll find more information on our What Aircraft? guide and Jet2's website.

When booking a seat for a new born, it's normaly the case you book it with the correct surname and baby or a made up name as the christian name. Jet2's policy is slightly different in that they ask you to book it as unborn as the christian name and baby as the surname. Once he/she is born, you need to get the name changed by calling Jet2's call centre where they'll change it free of charge.

Thanks Dazbo i just went to jet2 FAQ section (sorry should have done that before)
As you said you use unborn baby as name.
It says on there you cannot do online check in with an infant thou.

Now my dilema is do i take these jet2 flights or await easyjet prices its a hard one as i thought i needed to fly fri and monarch was my only option (to arrecife) but now ive changed that to sun ive got more choices.
Jet2 are coming up with an ok price much cheaper than everyone else but do i hang on for easyjet in the hope they may be even cheaper???????
My jet2 are £60 0utbound and £31 return (plus taxes, bags etc etc ) not sure its worth waiting easyjet. Decisions Decisions !

vicky06,

That's always the dilema! The best thing to do is when you see flights that are suitable and at a price you are happy to pay, book them. The trick is not to look again afterwards in case the price has changed.

Just back from Majorca with them.. 757 out 757 winglets returned, though the winglet plane has some of the worst seeting I have ever encountered on a plane.. Almost like preformed plastic bucket seats with no give at all..

Flights departed on time and arrived early :tup which after several Virgin, BMI and BMI baby experiences this year is a first for the year..

Biggest criticsm is the usual food one and the fact the plane was generally filthy inside.. Practically sold out of all sandwiches and toasties after serving three rows of the plane.. Remember to take your own...

Just a quickie, does anybody know that if you have paid to reserve your seats and then decide to change them for extra legroom, do you have to pay the full amount for the legroom seats or does the amount you have already paid get deducted.

Thanks

linsi,

Reserving specific seats costs extra. If you then decide to change them to extra legroom seats, I would imagine you'll have to pay the full amount.

Darren

PS, I'm glad you found Blackpool Airport a relaxing place. Great isn't it :tup

Yes, when you book extra legroom seats they said to us that they don't refund or set off any amount already paid to reserve "normal" seats. In our case it was worth it, because we took advantage of a BOGOF on extra legroom seats :)
