very clean and friendly place and excellent value for money, i think we paid 1100 rps for double room per night in march. no pool but only short walk (5 mins) from Candolim beach.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Angelas Guest House which is Sinquerim end of Candolim 800rps per night for an apartment, sat TV (a must for O/H) kitchen, bedroom, couple of balconies - no pool though. The people who run it are absolutely lovely, nothing is too much trouble. Arthur, the son, is a taxi driver and more than helpful.

Hi xcazzx. I would definitely go with your "scary thought". You can get a cab and tour hotels and rooms and take your choice once you've seen they tick all your boxes. You'll also get a good deal because at the time you're going, there will be loads of accommodation.

We've done it a couple of times (and are hoping to do it again in a few weeks!) and the reality isn't half as scary as the thought. We always get a cab from the airport and then change to a local cab in Calangute to do the searching with. What's to be scared of?

Just be aware that the cabbie may want to take you to someplace that he can get a few rupees from. Be firm and try a number of places before you make your mind up. It's good to have a specific area to aim for - there are a lot of rooms behind and around the football pitch.

However you do it - have a great time and if we manage to get ourselves organised, we may see you at one of the meets at the Carvery on Wednesday nights. If you're travelling alone, you really must make it to one of those!
