This is one time when it did not work to our advantage. I booked an inside on a GTY for my 5 day with RCL have just got details of our cabin deck 2 and very far from an elevator.
Have never been this low down, it won't be a problem, but in this case would have been much better booking my cabin here I am thinking being a Diamond member I might strike it lucky and to rub salt into my wounds I also received a letter to join the celebrations in Dec to honour all the Diamond & Diamond plus members and we have 2 cruises booked with them in Nov, so no perks there either.
That's life.
Also wondering do we just get 1 credit for a 12 day cruise or is it still 2 & is the 5 day cruise recognized?
Sorry but I don't understand a lot of travel jargon. What's a GTY? Gratuity? Help please!
It's a guaranteed cabin. You book a grade and not a cabin - usually cheaper and you may end up with something better, but you also may end up with something you don't want.
Thanks!
Many moons ago, I also thought GTY stood for gratuity...there would be logic there! There appears to me to be no logic in using GTY for guarantee but that is what all the cruiselines use!!
By all means feel free to use the cruise lines abbreviations. However it would be helpful to new cruisers if you also added, in brackets, what the abbreviations stand for.
It's from:
daveyjp - thanks for getting that sorted, I do apologize for using the abbreviation in my heading I was not thinking
Prindy- if you do not like the location just ask to be put back into the pool and re-assigned. It is done all the time..
