I'm afraid not. The new airside smoking area is in Terminal 2 adjacent to gate 300 (downstairs). As you're travelling with Thomas Cook, you'll be travelling from Terminal 1. T1 & T3 don't have airside smoking areas as yet.

john123,

Gate 300 Is Situated Left After You Have Passed Through Security, It Is A Little Way Out From The Main Complex If I Remember (A While Since I Have Been To MAN)

There Are Terminal Maps On Manchester Airports Website Here

It's about 2/3 the way down the lower gate numbers from the centre part of the terminal and gate 200/1. It's a couple of minutes stroll either way.

If you are on a short haul flight I can't see the problem not being able to smoke, after all you sleep longer without one at night, well I do.After I have checked in at manchester I go outside have a smoke and think well thats it till I get to my destination. Can't comment for long haul flyers though, it must be tough, when a simple thing as a ciggarette tries to rule your brain.

Oh well I guess we'll have to smoke ourselves to death on the way to the airport lol.

Even though I'm a smoker and we're doing a long haul flight, it doesn't really bother me not being able to have a cigarette for long periods. I'm not one that gets all edgy if I can't have one and the only time I really crave one is if I'm having an alcoholic drink which no doubt I will. Once I've got it in my mind I can't have one I just have to live with it and don't give it a second thought. There's a couple in our party though who can't go an hour without a cigarette let alone 12.

Flying from Manchester in the early hours tomorrow due to car trouble were going to set off early will there be anywhere we can get a drink and relax before we check in. Flying from terminal 2

christine w,

It depends what you call early. There's not a lot before security now, you'll probably have to wait until you're in the departure lounge.

Were thinking of setting off within the next hour or so. We are flying at 6 am and would arrive around 1 am . Not an ideal situation but we daren`t risk setting off much latter. Were scared the car won`t start and need to be able to get the train if it doesn`t and the last one is at 23.45.

Has anybody stayed at the Manchester Airport Travel Lodge??

Im staying there in February before an early flight out of T2, the room cost £9 for the night which i think is fantastic considering there are hotels in the area that want £80+ per night, im not expecting anything good though, for £9 i dont mind if its just a bed and a sink in the corner.

Im also wondering if there is a place close by to relax and have a drink or two as it will be Champions League week when im there so i can cath a football match before i turn in for the night.

Also does anybody know how far it is to T2, and how much on average would a taxi set me back.

Thanks in advance for the help.

dantpenny,

The Travel Lodge is across from the frieghter terminal so is about a mile from the airport. There's not a lot around there really. There's a pub close to the Aviation Viewing Park, the name escapes me at the moment though that's about a 5 minute walk away that I'm sure will have the Champions League on. There's a bar onsite that might have it on too.

Hi Dantpenny,
I have stopped a few times at the Manchester Airport Travelodge. The rooms are fine and the beds comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities but no shampoos etc.
There is a bar/restaurant on site and the food is pretty good. If you book online you can get a special deal of two courses for £6.
The Travelodge runs a shuttle bus to the airport which you book at reception. It was £7 when we stopped there in January, but we asked them to book an ordinary taxi for us and that was only £5!

Pub just up the road from the Travelodge is"The Romper", IIRC, a few hundred metres away.
