I believe much of the negative attitude towards Goa comes from those who bought property there and now find themselves in a predicament.
The embittered ones are probably hoping that the tourism market does collapse in the hope the government will want them to stay.

No I think you will find that quite a lot of the people who bought property here would love to sell up and leave Goa. (and I'm not one of them).

I didn't think before I wrote ! I agree a lot of property owners would probably just like to walk away without loosing anything, what they really want is the governemnt to allow them to do so.
Without going into the why's of the situation and apportioning blame, it does tend to be a very British mentality wanting to buy property abroad.Goa along with one or two other places are prime examples of the pitfalls. Most of us have at sometime entertained the dream of our little place in the sun, encouraged by glamourised TV programmes telling of the profits to be made. There is very little on TV to publicise the down side. There are no doubt 1000's of people out in Spain who regret their decision to move there but their experience should not reflect the potential for an holiday on the Costa's. I don't read the Spanish HT forums as I have no desire to go there at the moment but I have seen what has happened on the Goa pages where some individuals have tried to politicise this forum by being a mouth piece for property owners .
