These rules are very clear and the airlines are required to display a copy at check in.

Papa, that is all well and good, but on that day there were aprox 70-80 flights cancelled at MAN at least, all hotels were booked up with stranded passengers, transport network impossible to get anywhere else for a hotel, so unfortunately they had no other choice than to bed down in the terminal along with thousands of others too.......
and passengers cannot be served items from the bar etc onboard due Customs and Excise regs, not airlines being difficult.
