Michelle,

We have been to Belek twice and never used the Euro, we paid everything with the local currency Turkish Lira. We either exchanged our GBP or used our debit card to get money out the ATM's.
Cant say how much the tours are unfortunately as hubby and son went to play golf while I sunbathed by the pool.. :rofl
Which hotel are you staying at ?.

Where did you stay? Was it recently?

Apparently, or so i've heard, they'll only allow youto pay for trips in euro!!

im hoping there's yoga at my hotel.

Thanks for reply xxxx

We stayed at the Cornelia De Luxe. You will just love the place we upgraded to their swim up villas.

We were there May 2008

If my memory serves me right I think they did Yoga classes in the gym area as well as aerobics, a mixture of different exercise classes.

they may ask you for Euro's but only pay in Turkish lira. The other way then it is they who set the exchange rate.I live here and I have seen and heard it all.All you have to do is tell them that the UK. does not have Euro's and they will very very quickly take your Lira's.Do not offer to pay in Stirling !

Enjoy your holiday.

As another expat. RIK is correct .Stick to your guns and only pay in Lira. The tour operator will give you a rubbish exchange rate for both Euro or Sterling .

We are honeymooning at CD in September so will be watching posts with interest :tup

Take sterling with you make sure it is clean untorn notes with no writing on them and changre your money into lira when you get there you will get a better rate over there .Pay for everything in lira no matter what it is priced in ,just tell them lira please ,that way you are not swapping from curency to curency and will not lose out between every exchange .There are small tour operators in Belek and Kadreiy called ,lets go novelties, lets go travel and bdi travel where you will get trips and tours far cheaper than the likes of thomas cook .Quad bike and jeep safari around £20/25 loads of other day tours to places like aspendos ,perge ,douden waterfalls ,horse riding ,loads of tours .I am in Belek 2/3 times a year every year and these prices are based on last Octobers and i cannot see them being much if any dearer this year.

Re currency etc in the Belek area. We found that most things that you want to buy ie: trips, photos, golf fees are priced in euros, so if you don't have any euros you are then given the exchange rate of their choosing, which was mostly €1 to £1 or 2TLY to €1, If you insist on paying in lira they simply change the euro price to lira at 2TLR to €1 rate.

I would say take all three currencies, you can always change it back when you get home.

I find that if you ask for price in turkish lira you will always get the best deal no matter what .Even though most things are priced in euros in Belek they prefer t/l then they are not charged when they put it into their own bank ,with lira they dont have any hassle ,using three curencies does not make a lot of sense to me as you are only confusing the issue and it costs you money each time you change from this one to that one .Pick what currency you prefer then stick to that and haggle in that currency.

Each time we asked for the lira price, they just converted the euro price to lira using €1 = 2TLR.

Hi
As anyone been on the V.I.P.(adults only) cruise from the Antalya area, through Thomson, if so would you say it was value for money (£45) or would I be better booking independently in Side, if so does anyone no where.

Thanks in advance
