Hi, My husband and I realised we have never been to mainland Spain and we usually go to Florida for our wedding anniversary every december but this year thought we would stay closer to home and not suffer that awful flight (if the planes ever take to the sky again!! ) So as we haven't been before we are going to try somewhere close ish to Malaga as we don't think it will be as cold down there, but we could be wrong. We are going to do it ourselves and get a flight and hire car then find either an apartment or villa (romantic and must have a private hot tub!! I know, I know but I love them!!)
I have found some properties that look quite nice but I'm absolutely lost with the areas :que. To give you an idea of what we like, we are mid 40's and love going for nice meals, walks along quiet beaches, nice quiet bars, being able to drive to picturesque places with a bit of history, the real spain (if thats possible) ohhhh and almost forgot.....................shopping!!
I will list some of the areas I have found so far but I'm also open to any other suggestions and if you know of a place with a private hot tub I would be interested to hear about it.
1; Nerja, Maro
2:Calahonda
3:Arenas
4:Alhaurin El Grande, urique
5:Estapona,Selwo Hills
6:Lake Vinuela,Puente don Manuel
7:Duquesa
8:Benahavis
Thanks, everyone.
Jill x
You won't get a suntan, but other than the hot tub, Torreblanca ticks all the other boxes
Most of the places you have listed will be like ghost towns and many bars etc. close in December.
I know its not going to be as warm as Florida but at least we wont have that awful 10 hour flight and when we went to Florida last year it was terrible, we had rain most days and I mean really heavy rain and it was not warm!!! I had my jacket on I am quite looking forward to Spain being cold or cool and quiet, maybe I'm just weird but I hate crowds. We have now booked 2 places, one in Velez de Benaudalla and one in Alhaurin El Grande. We are hiring a car and we have hot tubs so we will be ok, you also have to remember we live in Scotland so are used to the cold If anyone has any info on either of these places I would really appreciate it. As long as I can get some Cava and some decent food to cook in the villa I will be happy Jill x
