Hi,
We are travelling to Perth in mid June on a working holiday visa.
I would like to complete three months of 'specified work' in regional Australia to be eligible for a second working holiday visa.
According to the government website 'Perth and surrounding areas' are not counted as regional areas. I am trying to research places to work that are close(ish) to Perth but will be classed as regional Australia.
Any advice from people who have already done this would be most helpful!!
Thanks in advance!!!
hi there winging poms you might be better off asking this question on facebook if you use it.go to search and put in backpackers lots of interesting topics on there.the reason i know this my son left for oz just over a year ago he started in perth and he has travelled all over now he is loving it.he done farm work on a ranch to get his extension somewhere in jundah.before he left for oz he found out quite a bit of info on there because you can ask questions too.good luck with your travels you will love it.my son doesnt want to come back
I am in Perth at the moment - you would need to go to Margaret River in the South as the nearest place to Perth to complete the 3 months work - its about a 4 hour drive. However you could always bite the bullet and see some of the other wonderful areas in WA - if you want to get your 3 months rural work over as soon as possible, the weatherin the northern areas of WA is perfect during the cooler months here.
Girlingreen - thanks for the advice regarding margaret river-will it be easy for us to find work there at this time of year? also what is the deal with accomodation?
Thanks in advance!
There are specialist recruitment agencies that deal solely with people on whvs who will find you work, that has accommodation attached. To be honest most of the rural farms etc advertise for work with accommodation as they can be extremely rural! It's usually farm house/dorm style. You may want to look at the website gapyear. com for info, there is a lot of people with a lot of experience on there.
Thanks for all your help girlingreen.

and in the past 24 hours has had several offers from hosts. He is now due to go out to a cattle ranch for a stay, which will count towards his extension.
