Could anyone tell me if they have been to Corfu lately? My friends are advising me to try and change my holiday to Sidari in August with the current ecenomic state Greece is in. I will be travelling with just my daughter, and have read the Foreign and Commonwealth office website report which says: There is a general threat from domestic terrorism, which has been on the increase in recent months. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. Can someone please advise?
Thank you
Hi I have got friends who live in Sidari, they have been there since march, I know people who are on holiday now in sidari, I dont think you have anything to worry about, I keep in regular contact with my friend and I am going in august to Sidari as well, been going there for the last five years, I think everything is ok, but will keep you posted as my friend is in regular contact with me, hope this helps.
I have just got back from sidari and there was no trouble there what so ever. Prices were a bit high rgarding food and drink but there was no trouble at all anywhere, think they are very glad to see paying visitors.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Corfu and it is just as PEACEFUL as ever. We didn't even see any violence from the sleepy dogs.
The Corfu people cannot believe what they are reading about potential violence in the sensation seeking media. Even worse they cannot believe that visitors are actually cancelling their holidays because of this harmfull publicity.
In beautiful Agios Georgios north (http://www.agiosgeorgios.info) most prices have been kept the same as last year apart from petrol which has jumped up (we paid 1.62 euros per litre).
You can still eat out cheaper than UK and in some stunning settings.

same experience on Zakynthos a couple of weeks back, prices in general around the same as last year, exceptions were those item which the government has increased taxes on [fuel/fags etc], the holiday islands need us as much as we need them, the season is only a short one for them and its over this period everyone works their socks off to see them through the rest of the year
