wizyfam3,
That's correct, the information will be taken at check-in when it's not possible to submit the information prior to you checking-in.
Darren
How are API passport numbers, DOB you input verified as being correct. Just checked in for our return Ryanair flight to Spain and this detail doesnt get a mention on the Boarding Pass ?
Your API information is for the use of the Spanish immigration, it is not mentioned on your boarding pass. they will obviously have your info in advance & then check it against your passport on arrival into the country. Well that's how I think it works,I maybe wrong though.
Details are passed on to security services for scrutiny, hence the details are required before the flight. If your details don't match what's on the database, a marker will be raised. Your boarding card is just that, a boarding card.
Darren
thankyou for your replies.
Going to italy in July, and on details from thomas cook looks like api is needed for italy
api was updated on 20 jan 2010, to include the following countries, maybe the ht mods can confirm this
Greece
Turkey (AYT, ADB, BJV, DLM)
Italy
Egypt
Bulgaria
Costa de Almeria (LEI)
Costa Dorada (REU)
We are travelling to Cyprus this year and have been told by Thomson Holidays we must supply API or we could be stopped from Flying,is this a new rule as we have never had to do this before???We went to Cape Verde in March with Thomsons but were never asked for this??
This has been around for the last 12 months Ron. It's just a simple case of submitting your details, only takes a minute: Thomson Airways API. If you don't submit it before you travel, it's taken at check-in. It just speeds the process up if you do it in advance and any issues that may be flagged can be sorted out. Any problems flagged on the day may result in you not being able to travel if there isn't enough time to sort them.

1st time we have been asked i have done the online bit,I used to have some weird looks with my last passport as it was issued in Libya as the company i worked for managed to lose it.
hi Darren...As youve learnt from my posts over the years Im a worrier....and doing this API has me worried sick incase Ive made a mistake on it....even though I checked it over and over I still am not feeling comforable.....what would happen if you'd made a small mistake on it....do they check it again at check in ....tweetie
That's why it's best to do it in advance and double check your details before submitting them. Any problems and you'll be contacted I should imagine to check things. Remember API is there as an extra security measure. The authorities are only looking for matches for known security targets so unless your details are a perfect match, it's nothing to worry about.
Darren
thanks Darren.....so if I got a number wrong and didnt spot it ....it wouldnt stop us flying or getting into gran caneria.....tweetie
If you are flying with Thomson it does give you the option to resubmit your details.
hi qatarman.....I printed the page off after Id done it....but the print was very small and couldnt find my reading glasses at the time....have found them now....so will recheck details from that now...I did double check both before I submited it and I had a number wrong ....and then after on the end screen....and details were fine.....but still had that niggly worry incase Id made a mistake....incase it stopped us going on plane or not allowed through passport control at other end.....tweetie
