Can anyone suggest a family place to go in the caribbean?
I am looking at easter next year and our children will be ages 10, 5 and nearly 1 by then.
We went to the Riu Menrengue in the Dom Rep for our honeymoon and loved it but it was 12 years ago so i dont know how it might have changed by now?
We went to the holiday village in turkey twice, the last time was last year and to be honest it has put s off AI a bit as the drinks choice was pretty naff and food wasnt great.
We want a minimum 4star, good choice of quality food, more than 1 restaurant, something for kids to do although to be honest they are happy with a good pool. Also i need to bear in mind i will have a baby with me aswell.
When we go SC we like to eat in good quality restaurants serving fillet steaks, fresh fish etc now i realise im not going to get this in an AI equally i dont want rubbish food for a fortnight.
Any suggestions? Would the Dom Rep be a good choice again.
I wouldnt mind somewhere you can get cocktails included and nice juices for the kids aswell.
Try the Sol Rio de Luna y Mares hotel in Guardalavaca Cuba on superb beach and getting rave reviews we go to the sister hotel on same beach buts its adults only.
The hotel 'sandos caracol eco resort and spa' was absolutely spot on for kids and adults alike, one of the biggest draws being the waterpark in the hotel, 17 different slides, my 9yr old daughter loved it !
It has a little villagy feel to it, though we didn't find it too big to walk round, 9 restraunts and 11 bars I think, the food was really lovely at the buffets.
great drinks in the bars too, in proper glasses ! There is even an icecream machine , with cones, the kids can help themselves to.
As this is an eco resort, there are lots of wild animals roaming around, raccoons, coatis, cats, spider monkeys in the trees, they even have 3 resident donkeys and a couple of parrots !
There's loads more I can tell you about it if you are interested,
cheers,
juby
Good food and selection of drinks including international ones (e.g. Smirnoff, Johnny Walkers, Gordons), close to town and shops / restaurants, good entertainment, 24 hr air conditioned sports bar (including snacks and drinks), nightclub, safe to walk out of resort and away from the tourist areas, use of another 3 Riu hotels (Yucatan, Playacar and Lupita), kids club, 2 main restaurants (1 is lunchtime only) and 3 speciality (Asian, steak house and Mexican). Lots of things to do around the area. It's not on the beach but is a 5 minute walk or a 1 minute buggy ride.
