We've been going in January for years and love it. Mostly it has been hot and sunny. Mid-to high 20s during the day, but the evenings are cool and you'll need a light jacket or something.

We go self catering, though we eat out all the time. Never cooked a meal at all........ So cannot really recommend anywhere, but the Fanabe/Torviscas area is lovely

:cheers

We went 16-23 this year and it wasn't that busy at all (but being older than you we like it quieter anyway)

I am sure you will enjoy it.

Thanks for your reply AndrewL.

We aren't too bothered about it being quiet at that time of the year, its to be expected all i am looking for is some sun and relaxation (& lots of alcohol to drown my sorrows at the big 30 :yikes ). There are six of us going up to now anyways so i am sure we can entertain ourselves :D

I think we have settled on the Luaby Spa in Los Gigantes just need to get it booked and then i can finally start looking forward to it!

:whoops If Iwas your age Iwould give los gigantes a wide berth, at best its a family resort in Summer and a nursing home in january.imho the best place for chilling/partying would be PDLA and if you fancy a quieter spot los cristianos we go every year for a couple of months and it gets more popular each year, quite sure you will enjoy wherever you decide to go,,,,,,ps we wont be there until february next year so have a ball ;) ;) ;)

Second what buscador has said...

You REALLY do need to be in PDLA or LC in January, especially if your looking to celebrate.

The corner linking the 2 resorts is the best part of PDLA you can walk between the 2 resorts in minutes following Las Vista beach, lovely walk with plenty of bars & cafe's looking out over the beach.
You have the choice of Los Cristianos or PDLA for whatever your looking for from a holiday, lively or laid back its easy to find.

Loads of top hotels in the Av de las Americas & Av Rafeal Puig area and some lovely places to eat and great nightlife even in January.
:cheers

Luabay Spa isn't in Los Gigantes as such....I'm pretty sure it is the big Costa Los Gigantes complex (under new ownership now) which is actually up on the hills above Puerto Santiago/Playa la Arena.

Still PDLA is probably better in January.......
although we've not really found los Gigantes/Playa Arena to be completely geriatric in winter ;)

mind you, it's a long time since I was 30 :rofl

we have stayed in Costa Adeje in January weather was warm enough still to wear bikini during the day, although you may need a cardigan at night. This area was still busy and you are absolutely spoilt for choice for restraunts and bars. It depends what you like, Costa Adeje is mainly mixed age bars with entertainment and karaoke, with the main strip of clubs in the heart of PDLA a 5 min cab ride costing about 5 euros. My husband and my teenage kids stay at Costa Adeje but my daughter (early 20s) just stayed in PDLA. You may as well go SC as it is still reasonably cheap to eat, you can still get a full english breakfast for 3 euros.

:think Looking at this reminds me of our one and only visit years ago to Tenerife, went mid January staying in Playa Paraiso and packed for warm(ish) days and cooler nights, we certainly weren't prepared for the sleet and snow, blimey it was cold :D
