La Pineda

I wouldn't be concerned at all. La Pineda is kept clean and tidy.

Salou is not filthy either but some of the pavements in the back streets of Salou are old and breaking up which can make its appearance untidy but the streets are swept every single day and the bins are emptied at least twice a day.

They try hard to keep all the resorts in the area tidy but Salou is so busy its impossible to keep it spotless. La Pineda is a quieter resort and so is easier to keep clean, La Pineda also has newer infrastructure.

Go for it, nice area for a holiday.

Just a quick note to say that we completely changed our minds and have booked for Cala Bona in Majorca! Maybe we will do La Pineda another time.

Cala Bona is beautiful, went there a few years ago and had a great time.

Been to the Old Town of Benidorm for the last 4 years and had a lovely time, but thinking of trying Salou/La Pineda? Any comments on the resorts please and could anyone recommend any nice apartments?

Best Regards

Hi Elaine,

Is an old town important to you? From my understanding Cala Bona is quite a traditional town and having been to Benidorm myself I know the old town is also quite quaint there. Much as I love Salou, it doesn't really have an old town, it has an older end of town which is more Spanish than the other end but its not really quaint. La Pineda is completely purpose built.

If you prefer quaint, then Cambrils maybe a better option for you, it is joined to Salou but has a much more tradtional Spanish feel about it.

Could you just give a bit more info on what you want from a resort & your accommodation and I will be able to maybe give you some info regarding suitable apartments.

Hopefully speak to you again soon.

Thanks Mark.

Cambrills sounds nice, have looked at it before on a friends recommendation, but couldn't find any suitable apartments. We're looking for an aparthotel if poss, definitely with air conditioning and a decent sized pool. Will have anther look to see if we can find anything.

We like to walk out at night, so is it within walking distance of Salou? Also how long is the transfer from the airport?

Thanks Again

hi elaine....mark seems to be busy as I notice he hasnt replied yet....so thought I might be some help....not been salou for about 4 yrs....we stayed in camping la siesta in central salou for about 10yrs running....we went atleaste twice to cambrils each year we went.....the road from salou to cambrils is lined either side by holiday apartments hotels ect.....and it goes on for miles..... it depends on how far you like to walk and where in cambrils you are staying.....but I dont think its feasable ....unless you are staying just outside salou.......one year we stayed in sanguli which is on the cambrils end of salou just before the old town.....and we walked into the main area of salou most nights....it took about 30mins...........

It was harbour end of cambrils we liked to go and always took the bus....think it took about 20mins.

Good idea is take the catermeran from cambrils harbour to salou harbour which is in the main area of salou....which we used to do....we got bus to cambrils then took the boat home......think last boat is about 5.30pm......so you could go by boat to salou have a meal ect then bus back to cambrils....tweetie
