Hi,
we are totally novice at this caravan lark but have seriously been considering buying one now that the kids are off our hands and we can do what we like!
I have never been in a caravan in my life and somebody suggested that we may be better off renting one rather than buying one straight out just in case we don't like it.
Does anyone know of any places, preferably in the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire area (but its ok if its further afield) that rents out touring vans?
Is it possible to hire one for just a few days rather than a whole week? We don't even know what type we want..but we know that we would like one with a quite spacious bathroom/shower room at the end of a van rather than a poky one in the middle as Rob is quite tall and well built and he would just not fit in a little one!
If anyone has any advice etc, all will be gratefully recieved.
many thanks in advance.

hi Justval try this place You will need to make sure that your car is able to tow the size of van you want and you will obviously need a towbar.
A read of any of these websites would be helpful

We have been caravanning for 12 years and the freedom you get to just 'have a weekend away' when you want is wonderful

You hit the nail on the head here that's why you can hire Motorhomes far easier than Tourers
to tow a simple caravan of 1500kg you really need at least a large estate car with at least a 1.9 diesel (turbo or common rail injection not a normal diesel engine) and the car will NEED to weigh in just around 1900kg or more depending on what the makers say the weight is to tow a Braked Trailer with this as an outfit you would find it takes over 2.5 times longer to emergency stop too
Val either buy a cheap van to start or get a Motor-home
the ability to get home from work with a few days off and disappear to a Certified Site (Caravan & Camping Club version) or Certified Location (Caravan Club version) where there should only be 5 outfits max and the peace and tranquillity you forgot existed is worth gold
