Hi, not been on this site for a while, but i am in the process of looking for a holiday, which will have to be booked with cosmos as i will mainly be using my tesco deals that i have saved, so my question is, were short haul will be nice ish weather the 2nd week of the easter holidays, as one of my sons will be in year ten by then and not allowed any out of school hols for next 2 years, so as theres 7 of us we need a 'cheapish' school holiday time.
We can also prob go may half term but this seems a fair bit more expensive, as we prefer all inc or half board.

Egypt . Red sea . sharm El sheikh being the popular choice. We always go in the easter holidays for a week. Normally end/march beginning April is around 30 degrees and always hot and sunny . Easter is fairly late next year isnt it so it will be even hotter if you can bear it .
I would suspect no guarantees of weather anywhere in spain -portugal.
best options will be Egypt, canaries(including Cape Verde) ,morocco or tunisia maybe . Turkey or greece could be nice but again no guarantees if weather is important to you .

Thanks for that...hubby doesnt want to do Egypt or Turkeyi, i think for us its got to be either, spain/greece/portugal, or canaries, we are not bothered about it being scorching, but would like shorts and tshirt weather.

I don't think Portugal as it's windy even in June......Greece I've been in May & it was warm enough. Spain I'd probably look at Costa Del Sol but never really been to Spain for the sun that early. Good luck

always used to go to costa brava may half term week and the weather was always hit and miss , so not guaranteed , the one year we had gale force winds and wore coats all week
If you don't want Egypt, then for warmth I think it would need to be the Canaries. Don't think you would want to be in the sea in Portugal at that time of the year!

We've been to Greece May half term and the weather was lovely . Not sure if we were just lucky but it was normal holiday sunbathing weather and hot.
Be careful with May Half Term with the 16yr Old sitting exams.

It will be half term, so no exams in school holidays, my daughter has just left this year and she had to go back after half term for any exams still not taken, hence going in the hols, but he wont be 16 next year anyway, only goes into year 10 in september.
What i meant was as he goes into year 10 in september he cannot come out of school for any holidays for the next 2 years, meaning our hols have to be in the school holidays!!!!

It also depends when the school is taking Easter holidays.
Form speaking to friends the second week of Easter holidays can start the 9th 16th or 23rd of April in 2011 as Easter is late.
Two weeks in Spring can make a big difference in the Med weather.

i work in school and we break up for the easter holidays Friday 15th April and return Tuesday 3rd May, i live in Wales so not sure if its the same in other parts of the UK
It's very late next year and causing us problems with our usual Easter week in Egypt but as pointed out could make a big difference to the weather . Easter weekend is 22-25th april . Our children break up 2 weeks earlier and then go back Tuesday 26th . Unfortunately my eldest son then has the Easter week from the 25th off work so unless he can change it to the week before he won't be able to come which then means next son down wont want to come .
