That's what worries me Llindy!!!!

We have been to Turkey once before. We went to Kusadasi, and HATED it!!
It was the very same there, only everyone said "Asda price"!! One restaurant owner took a shine to me,
and made a pass, and touched me up . IN FRONT OF MY HUSBAND!!!!

I hated the constant "hounding" every time we passed a shop or restaurant,
and we even got pestered to use the taxi's.
(Surely you only use a taxi if you need to go somewhere)??

I must admit, we chose to go back to Turkey because we thought it would be cheaper
than Kefalonia, where we would have preferred.(It turns out it's not this year)
However, if we don't like Hisaronu, we'll just get on a dolmus and find somewhere we DO like.
We've also booked lots of nice boat trips, and excursions, and we will enjoy our holiday.
Going September 11-25. so hopefully it may have quietened down a bit by then!!

Yes I've heard about Newquay though I've never actually been there myself (yet). I believe it's very popular with youngsters of school leaving age and I read recently of a young lad who lost his life falling from a cliff while intoxicated:( Why some parents let their kids as young as 16 go on holiday with a group of other kids is beyond me but that's another story.

As for Hisaronu, I'm sure you'll have a great time, I've just had a look and it looks very nice..And at least you're guaranteed lovely weather unlike this country..When is it you're going?

well to be honest with you pandy , we are going back to greece this year , we went to H in 2005 and were s/c .......... ouch i dont know if it was because we were newbies and got ripped off but found it very expensive , went to rhodes 2008 and didn't spend half as much , went to Tunisia last year , crete in 2 weeks , i honestly hope that Turkey doesn't price itself out of the market as one day i will be back

Fortunately, we've been left a bit of money by my lovely Dad-in-law, who died in March.
We go to Portugal quite a lot, as my Sis-in-law lives there, so off there for Christmas.

We are also thinking of booking somewhere nice for next year, but not sure where.
Maybe you could help Llindy, as you seem to prefer quieter places, like us.
We loved Kefalonia, but like to try different places.
Knowing me, I'd book Rhodes, and end up in Faliraki, at the 18-30 clubs Lol :rofl

Pandy 1956,
It looks like you have allready decided that you are going to have a bad time in Hisonaru before you even get there! Why not go with an open mind and see for yourself what brings people back year after year. You are staying in Ovacik and the location of the Perdika Hills Apartments are 3 kilometers away from Hisonaru!
As for the Turkish shop/restaraunt/bar owners coaxing you into their premises, we have been to Marmaris,Icmeler,Kusadasi,Oludeniz etc. and they are all the same so i expect that if you go to another resort in Turkey nothing will change.
Go with an open mind and enjoy your holiday :cheers :sun2

Not sure if it is the same in other Turkish resorts but in Olu Deniz the local Police shut down premises if the owners of shops / restaurants / bars etc keep hassling tourists, we have witnessed several businesses being shut down in the past couple of years.

I think the rule seems to be that they are not allowed to leave their premises, if they are constantly doing this they are shut down.

As such walking down the promenade and main strip is quite easy, yes people ask you to come in or view the menu etc but a polite no thank you, we've eaten or we're meeting someone and you normally get a "ok have a nice evening see you another night"!

I think I've already stated that WE WILL enjoy our holiday, no matter what!!
What's done is done, and we live and learn.
I don't have to go back there if I don't like it.

Saying that, I might ABSOLUTELY love the place.

No Alan, I haven't decided that I'm going to have a bad time there, as I haven't been there yet.
I must admit, it doesn't sound like it's my kind of place, but hey, you never know!!!
I'll give my verdict when I get back. :tup

Pandy , you have the right attitude , whats the saying " you cant please all of the people all of the time " and i for one really hope you enjoy yourselves and enjoy every minute of your hols . i still look at the webcam's and for the time of year it doesn't look that busy , as i said before it could be that i am looking at the wrong time of day and night

I've just read someone else's holiday report on Turunc, and it sounds like
it could just be "our kind of place".

I remain determined to discover Turkey's "hidden gem's",
and Turunc sounds like one of them.
I have also read somewhere that the Mayor of Turunc has barred all types of 'pestering and touting'
in all restaurants and shops there. Another bonus for people who find this hassle
intimidating, off-putting, and unnecessary.
In fact, I do believe I may just have discovered my next year's holiday destination!
Watch this space!!!! :tup

It is the same in Marmaris and Icmeler,if a restaurant is caught hassling they are shut down also.Turunc is very quiet, not a lot there!!its lovely to have a walk around for an hour and thats it for me.

Turunc is lovely, quiet, peaceful, no hassle. We had a really nice holiday there, we went to Marmaris for the day and couldn't get out of there quick enough!

Thanks for the recommend everyone. Thanks for the link Crispy.
I have just e-mailed the owner of a lovely private apartment in Turunc for next June.

I might have a quick look around Marmaris when I'm there, but it will be a quick look!!! :rofl

just back from icmeler, glad to report that some places have dropped their prices,it is very busy the busiest i can remember it being for about six years it is very very hot too. There seems to be a shift in the type of tourist there too, icmeler used to be mainly families and older couples ,this year we did spot an increasing amount of groups of teenagers,i am glad to say though they seemed to be behaving and enjoying their holidays. a couple of the main bars were packed to bursting so in some cases it would be advisable to book a table for the evening.
