The nine members that make up the majority union's executive committee USCA, which comprises 95% of the controllers that AENA has on staff, are to decide in the meeting if to strike or not
At the gates of the hotel where the meeting takes place, the USCA Communications Secretary, Cesar A. Cabo, has ensured that the decision made at this this meeting will be the "definitive" because it is not necessary that the national assembly endorsement.
Cabo has also responded to the statements of Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero who appeal to "his sense of responsibility" asked the drivers to avoid the strike and accept the offer of Development, to be taken into account "all possibilities" allow a solution to the conflict.
In this regard, Cape explained that the debate on whether to call strikes and also on a possible arbitration, as they have been offered AENA.
"We are most interested in reaching a solution as soon as possible and give an answer," said Cape, to remember who advocate a "reasonable time" for the group in line with Europe.
Just got back on my computer after being for out the day. Let us all hope that the possible strike is called off and puts an end to all this unbearable stress. Due to fly to Lanzarote on 26th and haven't even mentioned it to other members of the family as everyone is getting really excited about their holiday after a very stressful year - so really, really hoping for the best result for all of us holidaymakers.
yes i think it must just be the post hippjak, i think i have got myself paranoid with all this going on and was thinking that they were holding the tickets back for some reason!! thanks for the reply.
I keep checking but nothing as of yet! We are due to fly out to Malaga on 25th so, like you all, am alittle concerned!!! We are flying with Easyjet and are staying in a friends apartment so if the outbound flight is cancelled EJ have said that they will transfer free of charge and also on the home journey we could change that too so that we don't miss any of the holiday. Fortunately, we are staying at a friends apartment and it is free for a couple of wks after we were due to leave so thats a bonus, but that said, my husband has to be back at work and the children back to school!
Blimey - how long does it take for 9 people to decide on if/when to strike?????????
I know the feeling hippyjak...Im just going from one website to another checking for updates...its so frustrating!!!
Snap!! Got loads of things I need to be doing but can't peel myself away from the screen
Lets hope for the sake of everyones mental well being, tonight !

Meeting started at approx 17.30 (16.30 GMT). I would say that a decision is not far away, lets hope they see sense and drop the strike threats.
Oh I wish they'd bl**dy well hurry up!!!!
That gives them 5 subjects to talk about.
Then there is the decision on whether to strike or to accept the arbitration offer by AENA.
Then, if they decide to strike, they must decide on when and for how long.
Having experienced their so called "urgency" to such matters this week I would probably expect an answer in a weeks time (only joking).
Bet they're having a break now with a huge jug of sangria and some tapas!!!
Im just going to re-check translation but I think they have said that they are not going to strike in August so that they can resume negotiations with AENA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what :D TELL ME! No strike??
It has been so long since i have been away i can't remember how all this works. We are renting a private apartment in Palma and we can't go later as it is booked up for the following 2 weeks.
Monarch said if the flight is cancelled we get a full refund, when do they cancel or do they have passengers waiting for hrs and hrs on end......
Thanks xx

It just flashed across the top of EL Mundo with a red banner saying latest news in that there would be no flight disruption during August so they could renew negotiations.
