MISS SOLD HOLIDAY FIRST CHOICE 19A Kirk Wynd, Falkirk FK1 1L Z
Well where do I start we went into Falkirk Branch on the 13 August 2009 and we thought we was booking a Holiday for 7 Adults to Turkey for the 23 August 2010 ? and that we would have our own sleeping arrangements as couples and we stressed this to the Sales Rep at the time we kept saying we needed separate Sleeping areas for the Adults to sleep ;- separate Bedroom with living room area a One Bed apartment if you like.
Well we was told that is what we are Booking separate sleeping area in the two rooms or Apartments we have so we went ahead and Booked this Holiday to Turkey at Club Julian when we received the paper work through we found the Club Julian has a web site so we went and had a look and to our Horror we found that these rooms that we have booked are just one room with Two Double Beds or Four single beds in them so that means either 3 Adults or 4 Adults would be sharing a room ??
So we went back to First Choice a spoke with the Sales Rep that MISS SOLD us the Holiday and we asked what`s this all about, all we got told "That`s what you booked AND THAT`S WHAT YOU ARE GETTING " and we said No it is not WHAT we asked for, We asked for separate sleeping Arrangements - A Separate sleeping for two Adults and a Living room type area that can be used for sleeping ;- fold down beds -, well this Sales Rep said "Well that`s what was Booked" we Have sent various letters of Complaint to First Choice Direct Head Office but NO REPLIES, and we have emailed First Choice with no Replies except a email saying we have received you email and we will look into it?? Likely story never heard anything from them again,
Then we was told the Manager at the Falkirk Branch 19A Kirk Wynd, Falkirk FK1 1L Z was taking care of our Complaint "IN HOUSE" She`s doing nothing either SHE IS A WASTE OF SPACE AS WELL, .
So We had to go Direct to Club Julian in Turkey, and book another room that cost us another £100.00 on top of what we have paid "NOT REAL EH" and so we would all have Separate sleeping areas to be on our own as we are a group of 7 Adults the Youngest is 20, years old, theN 22 years then, 23 years old, then us old F**t 43 years old, 47 years old, and 53 years old, and 54 years old, So can you all see we could Not share a room with either a Double Beds or Four Single beds in the same room,
Its 2010 for God Sake so if your going to Book with FIRST CHOICE PLEASE READ THIS AND THINK AND THINK SOME MORE BEFORE YOU MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS WE DID BOOKING WITH FIRST CHOICE,
YES WE ALL KNOW THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN ON HOLIDAY YET BUT WE ARE JUST WARNING YOU BE SURE, BE SAFE, DON`T BOOK FIRST CHOICE AS YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF AS WELL, PLEASE BE WARNED.??
Some Manager phoned today THE 12 AUGUST 2010, and said there nothing HE OR WILL BE DOING ABOUT THIS EITHER, all all he said was "SORRY" WELL SORRY IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH REALLY,
We all leave a Week on Monday the 23 August 2010 its been a Year in the Planing as this is the First Holiday for 8 Years as I had a really Nasty Accident and its Lucky I am still alive and we had to save and all the Family have been Great Helping me through all the Ruff times I have lost my House and everything that went into that house My whole life gone in that moment when the Accident took place and now being treated like this by FIRST CHOICE well that says it all really kick a man when he down,

This sales rep sold us the Holiday stating that we would have separate sleeping arrangements with the rooms that she sold to us that two Adults would have there own room and the other Couple would have the Living room area on Fold Down or Pull out Beds do you follow now ??
We Kept asking for these rooms as you can`t have four Adults in the One room sharing two Double Beds this So Called Rep at First Choice stated that we have two Rooms with Separate Bedroom its not 7 Rooms we asked for its two rooms with Separate Sleeping areas,
But its down to First Choice as we stated from the start what was required at the time of making the Booking we stressed on a number of times what we needed and the Sale Rep at Falkirk Branch said "Yes that`s what you will have two rooms that have Separate Sleeping areas and with a Living room area type Place with folding / pull out Beds That Four Adults Can share but still have there own Private place to sleep etc,"
That`s why we Booked this Holiday in the first Place Thinking we had or would have a separate sleeping arrangements as I keep saying you can`t have four Adults sharing the one Room Sleeping Etc,
http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/holidays/turkey-dalaman-holidays/marmaris/club-julian-hotel/#Rooms is (self catering) a bedroom sleeping 2 and sofa beds for 2 in the living area. If that is the case then as I read it you would require two one bedroom apartments.
Is that what you understood them to be supplying? From experience that is what I have had in the past. So what - based on the info on the website are/were they actually supplying?

My reading of the accommodation on their website - see here; Is that what you understood them to be supplying? From experience that is what I have had in the past. So what - based on the info on the website are/were they actually supplying?

It is very clear from the details on the first choice site that what you should have booked was 2 one bedroomed apartments meaning 2 in each bedroom and 2 in the lounge area. They also have 2 bedroomed apartments so that could have been an option also. Bear in mind though that some of the beds might be doubles and not twins.
Did you not see from the paperwork that you received at the time of booking that the above was not the case? It usually does list out the accommodation booked. If you accepted it at the time of booking then I'm not too sure you have any comeback.
Please keep any complaints to the tour operator polite and to the point - they do not need or want sob stories and it may stop your complaint from being taken seriously and please - no sentences in all capital letters.

That`s why we went onto and Booked this Holiday, you see,
But when we received the paperwork through the post it stated TWO STANDARD ROOMS - TWIN 4 ?? that`s why we looked at the web-site of Club Julian and as we said to our Horror that room type was a one room with either two Double Beds or Four Single beds within the room, meaning 3 0r 4 Adults sharing, the one Room, We are Three Couples and our Son that is going you see,

What can you do now at this late date! Well with respect if you approached them in the same way you made your first post then it is no surprise you got nowhere. Perhaps you might start again and forget the anger that you feel. I can well understand how frustrated you feel. Might not be what you want but a little bit of grovelling might just do the trick.
It could be a genuine error on the part of the booking clerk - inexperience? - but they should have read the room/accommodation descriptions with more care and if not sure asked for advice. Don't say it will work but as your previous approaches have not then what have you to lose?
fwh
I understand completely, they have booked you family rooms and I have to agree it does sound like their error.
I don't think it's just that the agent has booked family rooms instead of apartments. I doubt the system would have offered apartments if she had entered catering type as HB. I think perhaps she has booked what the system brought up thinking, mistakenly, that she was booking the requested rooms types.
On another note We have been really Nice with the first letter and the Second letter and with the emails etc, asking if they had made a Mistake and to Check the Booking and they stated you booked the rooms that sleep up to 4 with Separate sleeping areas, you see, We have been nice But Yesterday after that Manager phoned and stated that there`s nothing they can do or will do to fix the Booking now "you got what you Booked" this is what this Manager said to my Wife
We Just feel that when we sat there and asked for the Room type that we needed that being a Separate sleeping area - Bedroom ? and a Living-room area that can be used for sleeping like those Camp Beds - Folding Beds - Pull out Beds etc., ?
I know the first post was rather over the Top but I am really angry and I was`nt giving any Sob Stories We told the Sales Rep what had Happened as she was being really nice to us,She saw that I use a Walking Stick, that`s all we said about the Accident not looking for anything for Nothing we kept asking if the Room type was or Had Separate Sleeping area, She said Yes, and she said to us it was FAMILY ROOM`S that we had booked with separate sleeping area`s to the Living room area, ??,
When we Received the paper work it stated two TWIN ROOM`S this is why we are angry, do you understand they said one thing to us and we received another thing, But they at First Choice Said No that`s what you booked That`s what you are Getting??
Did you check the paperwork when you were in the shop, because it is vital that you know that what has been booked is what you want. That is the time to correct any errors.
I really think the agent has just not understood the product she is selling and is starting to sound like she wasn't really sure what she was doing. Just my opinion.
First Choice Said No that`s what you booked That`s what you are Getting??
Quite correct - except that the booking clerk made a mistake. Your problem obviously is trying to get someone to admit it.
I do question the experience of the booking clerk based on what you have said. In self catering sleeping 4 there is usually a bedroom and a separate living area that also doubles as a sleeping area. In half board then normally there is just a bedroom. I would have expected the clerk to be aware of this. Your stated needs did not match half board accommodation.
One question that springs to mind is if the SC accommodation, which is what you actually needed, is available when someone books half board? I suspect that their system does not allow for that and is where the problem lies. Perhaps having considered the comments made by members of HT you would consider writing a carefully worded letter taking our comments into account. Yes it has cost you an extra £100 to get what you want and you should go and enjoy your holiday, but a little on the spot research as of the accommodation whilst there could be followed up with another letter on your return. Talk to the rep and find out if they have come across your problem with others.
So just so you know what you are doing.
Go and enjoy your holiday.
Do some research between enjoying your holiday.
Write another letter when you come back.
Write a review for HT
Continue to be a member of HT and see if you can help someone else. That's all we ask really. We help you where we can and you in return try to help others. We are a nice bunch of people on here.

The seller will have a different story, and the truth will be somewhere in the middle.
According to this year's First Choice's website a Standard room sleeps 2 or 3 people but definately not 4. A Larger room sleeps 3 adults and 1 child up to 12 - but again not 4 adults. A Family room sleeps 4 adults with, quote a double room, 1 extra bed & 1 sofa bed (sort of implying two areas). In the photos it shows a standard room clearly has a double and single bed for 3 people not 4. Their basic appartment sleeps 4.
What the hotel's translated website says may just confuse matters, hard to say since it isn't working at the moment! But rooms with 2 doubles aren't options on the FC site even if the hotel has them.
I think this may boil down to simply how the room type name is set up in the FC computer. Standard room/Twin/4 implies to me they have booked the basic appartments (they also have a superior grade hence the word standard) that you wanted. Twin is an option available on that choice and 4 is the maximum occupancy of that option. But this leads to a different problem - does the invoice mention food?? If there's no mention of HB then they may have missold the holiday but for a different reason - you may be booked self catering! Have you got the brochure that was valid when you booked to confirm prices?
As for signing for things, what about payment? Presumably for an amount like this you didn't pay cash - was there a credit card authorisation on the bottom of the booking form? Unless this was a Chip and Pin transaction you probably signed the contract by signing that.
