OK guys, i've just got back from Sorrento, here is the real deal.
I traveled with Thompsons but never took the transfer because I thought it was exspensive (after read TRIP ADVICER)
so I went solo
Got to naples & asked the thompson rep the price to pay for the transfer to my hotel (HILTON SORRENTO PALACE) she told me 25 euro's so I decided to make my own way.
Bus to the port 3 euro's, 5 mins walk to the bus station though,& there are a lot of buses, so make sure you get the right one.
Got off for the port stop, 10 mins walk with cases to the port, get ticket in a queue, boat to sorrento direct 10 euro's, each case you have 2 euro's, 40 mins later, & a very nice trip along the coast sorrento port then cab to my hotel 18 euro's, gave the driver a tip, 20 euro's, & that took me 2 hours 40 mins, the cost was 25 euro's, a transfer by the rep as I have said 25 euro's to the hotel door 1 hour 20 MAX.
so work it out for yourselfs guy, it a no brainer.
Take the transfer & keep the wife happy.
Learn buy my mistake & thank me later.
Take the transfer.
Enjoy
Or walk outside the airport and get the bus direct to Sorrento for 10 Euros...simples
But that bus only takes you to the train station in Sorrento, then its 10/15 euros to your hotel.
Your report is very useful but we next need to establish exactly where the transfer bus will drop off. Who operates it?
I flew with thompson, so I went to the Thompson's deck and inquired how much it was, but decided to go solo , so if you book with thompson/first choice, you will be going to one of the hotels they deal with.
That may not be the transfer mentioned on Trip Advisor, there are other services as well. So now we need to know who operates Biiltracs bus!
There is a bus that goes straight to Sorrento, you have to go to terminal 1 for this bus, which is only 5-10 minutes from terminal 2
Well, just in from our trip to Capri and Sorrento( 0330!!). Quick visit to the forum and the bus from Naples Airport to Sorrento actually stops at several hotels along the way, it isn't a straight Naples to Sorrento Station journey. The transfer is operated by Currari
http://www.bus.it/curreri/inglese/E_index.html
click on Bus Routes for schedules. I can see where some confusion may have crept in, they also operate a private transfer servcie and call it Shuttle, that does work out dearer at €80 for the first 1-3 passengers.
