Hi....Looking for a bit of advice How late would you leave it to book a 'cheap week' away ? I am not tooooo bothered about where we go. But i am fairly restricted by dates I am looking at going between 11/09 & 13/09....
Thanks in advance
Hi, I don't think there is such a thing as a cheap week anymore. If I was you I'd be looking at booking asap as there won't be much allocation left apart from in the not quite so good hotels.
Thanks
Iv had a quick look on olympic and they have availability for 13 sep- to corfu £193 per person inc transfers this is from manchester- but other airports will be available.
Also try travel republic (Select a package- rather than seperate flight and accom)- this usually always comes out cheaper if you are wanting to get away in next week or so.
Iv travelled with both these firms and have had no problems- just picked my tickets up at the airport.
Good Luck- and let us know if you get anything

Oh thanks for that Belly...I usually book at least a couple of months in advance But seen as we haven't long been back from Corfu thought we might be able to sneak a week away without the kids but just trying to get it as cheap as poss ! Btw...looking to go from EMA !

I think your right there,my dad has tried his best to get a cheap deal to Gran Canaria to come with us,(we leave in 3 weeks) and the prices are really high, over £800 just for him,I know he would pay more being a single traveller but haway man thats expensive, however he managed to book direct with the same hotel as us and buy a flight with flythomascook and saved a bit but not that much.
I think cheap last minute deals are long gone and also with these firms going bust they are hiking there prices
Also my niece was looking yesterday for a last minute cheapie leaving tomorrow or Sunday anywhere in Egypt, Turkey or Greece. Today, she eventually found a week's AI in majorca leaving tomorrow for just under £400 each. Now I would call that a bit of a bargain but they've got to find their way to Gatwick which is 4 hours by car from where they live.
It does depend on how flexible you are with the airport too. Have you tried looking for something yet Bobbie'sgirl?
I have been looking all week to see what the prices are...but it's not as 'cheap' as i thought it would be they want nearly as much as we have just paid for peak weeks Plenty of bargains to Kavos Oh well, i will go to travel agent in town on Sunday and see what offers they have got ......i will get away . .
We've bagged a good deal at a former Superfamily complex in Mallorca in mid-September....while the Gold Hotels there were twice the price at over £1100 for 14 nights
Otheriswe, re last minute possibilities...I think you can book pretty well up to the day before, (If you have got cash, packing etc. sorted) and collect the tickets from the airport.
Hope you find something
A lot depens if you can use the main surcharge free airports such as Gatwick, Stanstead etc. From our local airports Cardiff & Bristol it's impossible to find a bargain at any time during the main season ie. May - Oct .When you consider all the companies that have gone to the wall over the last year or two the no of Tour Opeators are very limited. Limited no of Tour Operators = Limited choice = expensive prices.
I booked a week AI to Majorca this morning, going tomorrow. That's the shortest notice I have ever had before a holiday, and I must say it's lovely. No worries before going, what we've got we've got, what we haven't got then tough. We've got each other, money and passports what else do we need. I did want to pay less however after looking around for a while It looks like we've had a bargain at just under £760 for the 2 of us. Hotel has great reviews also.
Thanks folks.....I could actually wait till next weekend to book something in the hope thats it's a 'bit cheaper', got the kids, work & packing sorted Marlou , that looks like a good deal you got...who did you book that with ?
don't think you will het many bargains in september as its still a peak month. we got a last minute cheapie last october 20/10/09 that was just before half term and going in to half term for 7 nights to majorca a/i for 3 of us for £99 each booked 3 days before travel. don't think i'll ever get a bargain like that again but i always look in hope.
bobbies girl - she booked online with Cooperative travel. She went to a Travel agent shop, but they wanted £60 more.
Hi Bobbiesgirl, I have had a look at Direct Holidays and Thomas Cook websites and there are some good deals for the dates you want. I found an AI in Turgetries for £381 that was flying from Birmingham. Have a look, I put 13th September in the search. Obviously SC will be a lot cheaper but I didn't know what board you would prefer.
Best Deal I could find....Caz
oooo thanks folks...off to have a look now
There's plenty of decent prices on the Coop site - depends where you can fly from I suppose
Well tried various agents at the weekend, but there wasn't many bargains to be had...I have ended up booking flight only. Has'nt really cost much more to book it all seperate Thanks for the advice
