Sanji I've looked round the Upper Class lounge and I don't think for one minute you'll be bored :yikes

Sanji,

I would get there as early as you possibly can. Use all the facilities there are available, have a nice proper meal, shower etc.

Thanks Mark.
I've done some reading up on this and read some views where apparently all the complimentary facilities are on a "walk in" system, and some say they couldn't take advantage of these treatments because the queue was too long and they'd have missed their flight, and so they would go a lot earlier in the future, and other have said they did because it was quiet...I somehow can't envisage Heathrow ever being "quiet", so I guess it's just pot luck on the day.

Some views said it was fabulous, others said it wasn't all it's cracked up to be, and seeing as I don't have a laptop and if I can't get pampered I don't fancy propping up the bar for 5 hours drinking orange juice, I'm trying to decide what time to get there......Is there a time limit before you can access the lounge.?

I'm sounding very posh, but we also have a chauffeur car to take us to Heathrow from KX, so I need to know what time the train will arrive for the driver....
But which train do I book, one that gets me in London at 2pm, 3pm. 4pm or 5 pm.?

It would be a great help if someone has used this lounge and can expand on what exactly they did to fill in the hours.

as they want you to check in 2 1/2 hours before departure, and you have still to get round the m25 etc arriving at 5pm should give you enough time.
however, although trains seem to be very good nowadays, i would want to build in some time and would try to arrive in london by 4pm at the latest.
i dont know how much time they let you have in the lounge, but seem to remember that you get limited. 2 hours before boarding rings a bell, but i cant find anything to confirm this.

Hi Sanji, I've only used lounges at Manchester airport, at all of those you are only allowed in 3 hours before departure. Maybe the Virgin Lounge is the same?

:think As it's the Clubhouse I wonder if it's different to the 'ordinary' VIP lounge where you pay £15 for 3 hours. If you click on the various links around the lounge information link above there's a Multiscreen where they show films etc, all in all there's a few places to choose from.

If you don't get a reply from someone who's actually visited the Clubhouse I'd seriously think about emailing Virgin for more information.

Ooh, look at you - I hope you've got your twin set and pearls at the ready :D

Just taken a look at the clubhouse/lounge,it seems like a holiday in itself :) I'm really excited at the thought of you enjoying all this holiday (airport and Oz) has to offer. You're going to have LOADS to tell us when you get back.

Enjoy the research too ;)

I've been fortunate to use the Upper Class lounge at LHR on several occasions.

I suggest you aim to arrive at LHR for your SYD flight around 3 hours before departure. I have also done that route with Virgin. The Upper Class check in process is easy and quick plus you have a dedicated security lane to travel through. It should take only minutes.

In the lounge you can find lots to amuse you. I'm normally happy to just sit down, have a nice meal, a few drinks, read and watch the planes from the window. There is however a spa, beauty treatments, computers, newspapers and magazines, snooker table, large multi viewing tv screen (one wall but five or six tv stations running), I pod music stands, lots of very comfy seating, large bar and great attentive staff. It really is a great way to travel :cheers

Thanks Traveller for your reply.
As you have done this route with Virgin and I presume you have stopped in Hong Kong for the 2 hours. Would you mind if I contacted you via Pm to ask a few other questions please.?

Sure

Virgin also have a great lounge at HKG and you can get a shower there which is great on the two hour stop over on-route to Sydney.

I'm flying there again in just over a week. :tup
