In January it is a nice time to go, may may get a bit of rain for about 10 secs or so, it does not rain much. As reguards food in hotels and in and around the resort, it is very nice. You will not find pork on menus, but chicken, beef and the usual what we have at home you will. Food at hotels is repetitive in the second week. I go to the sonesta beach hotel and in 3 weeks time will have been since 2005 (9) times, but although there is a kids club, not one i would feel will keep the kiddies entertained a lot. However the sonesta club i have visited numerous times and has a very good kids club and English, plus they have aqua slides over the pools as well. Both of these hotels are situated in Naama Bay. Both hotels have a kids menu corner, pizza, chips, mince, fish fingers etc, ice cream in the day etc.
Another hotel outside of Naama Bay is the Aqua-Blu which has loads and loads of slides to keep kiddies happy, but to get into the main drag of NB you will need to catch the hotel bus if they have one, or a cheap taxi. Another hotel that is always recommended on here is the Holiday Village. I do not know this hotel, but regulars on here can help you in that department.
Tummy upsets only regularly happen in the summer months up to the end of October, the heat, a/c and drinking too much water is not good. The water has a laxative agent in it, so the GP in resort told people to drink lots of sprite. I go in November now and been fine. January should be no probs at all as its a lot cooler around 70s.
Food in restaurants is beautiful, cannot compare to GOA but i always find it very nice and reasonably cheap.
