I would welcome any suggestions to celebrate the New Year
Would quite like to have a big firework display, maybe some free live music ( rock band in a square ? )
A general sense that everyone is there to celebrate in a group & have a good time
Places like Australia,Hong Kong, Rio are too far away and would prefer not to go to the USA
Maybe by a river or beach
Somewhere thats fun
We went to Prague over New Year last year. could tick many of your boxes? The city was all lit up with Xmas trees- the old town square was awash with people, sights, sounds and smells. The Xmas Market was still running and there was a stage set up with a live band on New Year's Eve. We chose to spend the evening walking around taking it all in before having a meal in a nice pub. At midnight fireworks were set off by the riverside (not sure of the exact spot) but we decided to stay put in the warmth of the pub and celebrated there. There are various restaurants on the banks of the river where you could wander outside with your drink to experience magnificent views of the fireworks. You could also book a New Year's eve Cruise, which includes a huge gala dinner, entertainment and a view of the fireworks.
We really enjoyed it and would recommend for New year.

Thanks for the suggestion shirley h. I hadn't really thought about Prague for the new year until your post.
Has anyone else got any ideas abroad for the new year ?
