Hi,

Going from Stansted this Sunday and as we're only 20 mins drive away, we're staying at home, but when we fly from Gatwick, we stay at a great B&B in Horley, 5 mins drive away. A triple bedded room with breakfast and 10 nights parking is about £100 and the owners drop you off & pick you up at Gatwick.
We've already booked our room there for our July 2011 holiday :)

Regards

Good luck with the Gatwick Europa. We had a disastrous stay with them a few years back. They gave our rooms away and failed to produce the airport transfer. I'll be interested to hear what you make of it.

We always stay overnight, usually use the premier inn at Gatwick airport, I, like sunaddict get very anxious about EVERYTHING on the day of the holiday, I don't cope well :yuck , and have found that if we are basically 'there' in the morning I'm ok. Last time our flight wasn't till 6pm, we checked in about 12.30 and had great fun in the airport, just looking around watching the planes and having lunch. We have decided to treat ourselves to the Sofitel hotel next year, (with a 6pm flight again!!) you can't get closer than that, unless you sleep on the runway :rofl :fly

Also staying at the Europa next Tuesday evening for our early morning flight to the Dom Rep. We've also got car parking for 2 weeks included, does anyone know if you leave your car at the actual hotel or do you have to drive it to the parking lot then get the shuttle to the terminal?

We never used to stop as a mate of ours is a taxi driver and always ran us to the airport dead cheap...but then we had a flight at daft o clock from Manchester which meant we would have had to have left our house before we went to bed :rofl and we didnt think it was fair on Johnboy so we booked in at Premier Inn and got the weeks parking deal too...

We have done that the last 3 holidays as it has fitted in with the flights etc and we have gone from Manchester rather than Donny or East Mids.

We are staying there tonight too as we head of for Egypt tomorrow.. :D

Every year I go on holiday, and have been flying from Manchester, I have always booked my self in to one of the manchester airport hotels, and so far I have used 3 different hotels, and have no complaints, all have been very helpfull

2008 flying to venice, 6am flight stayed at the Bewley hotel, airport transfer, didnt need to wait, driver took me right away

2009 flying to Rimini-Cattolica, 5pm flight, so I flew down the day before from Glasgow, also stayed in the holiday in as my flight was at 10 am, spent the day in manchester, before returning to the Crowne hotel. Did not take the offer of airport transfer, just walked over to airport

2010, flying to Venice-lido de Jeselo, 7 am flight stayed in the radison, airport hotel, my room looked right on to runway, so I could watch all the flights

2011, going to Cattolica, but from london stansted-Ancona, 10 am flight, and will be staying overnight in one of the hotels near by

Hi
We stayed at the Thistle hotel at East Midlands last year. Couldn't fault the room or hotel very smart, couldn't hear the planes or traffic, but the prices for the meals and drink were astronomical. £28 for two steak and ale pies with potatoes and veg, anywhere else it would have half the price. Have also stayed at the Travelodge at East Midlands in the past, not so select as Thistle, could hear the traffic and planes, but plenty of places to get food.
