We're going to Gran Canaria on 26/12 but haven't yet decided where to stay, a nice beach nearby and a selection of bars for the evening with music/pool table/people are what we would like. Considering the Atlanta hotel at the top end of Las Canteras as from what I've read this is an excellent beach, are there a selection of bars in the area ? If we do stay in this area would we be able to get from the airport to the hotel by bus in mid afternoon as I don't fancy hiring a car and driving into Las Palmas, I assume we would need to change bus when we get to Las Palmas, do the different buses meet up at a bus terminus ?
Or would we be better going to PDI, would the weather be likely to be better, would there be many people about, would there be many bars open ?
Thanks for any help
Andy
I live in Gran Can so I should be able to help you out.
Las Canteras is a lovely beach with some nice chilled out bars and restaurants.
You will be able to catch the bus no problem. The bus you would need is number 60 http://www.globalsu.net/lineas/linea60.pdf (Time table included) and you would get off at San Telmo station then I'd catch a cab if I were you only about 4/5 euros so nothing. In fact a taxi is only about 35 euros to the capital whenever I travel I always catch a cab can't be doing with dragging cases etc.
Weather is normally better in the South in comparison to the North although I'm here on Las Canteras beach and it's about 27 degrees so it's not to be sniffed at. Weather as you can imagine can change but normally we have pleasant weather here in the capital.
Thanks for the information and the link to the timetable. It's about 2.7 degrees here and about to get much colder over the next few days, I hope the UK airports are open on 26/12.
We've returned from our short trip, we stayed in the Atlanta hotel on C/ Alfredo L Jones just 50 metres from the beach, I will write a review of the hotel if it can be added to the review section please.
Hi Andy ... Graham has added the Atlanta Hotel to the database for you, we look forward to seeing your review when you have time:
Thanks David and Graham, review submitted.
