It's been a while since we've gone self catering, so just in case the budget got a bit out of control, I thought I'd take some standby easy basics with us, like dried pasta and sachets of sauce. Does anyone know if this is allowed, or is it illegal to take any food stuff in??
Thanks
Pam
Take any foodstuffs you like, it is totally legal within the EU
You can buy rice / pasta / marmite / tinned tomatoes etc etc while you are there... and don't have to lug them about taking up space and weight in your suitcase !
Plenty of supermarkets sell things at decent prices (as long as you buy the Cypriot/local brand rather than you must have heinz beans etc)
a sample of some shopping we did in 2010 shopping

I fancied "tomato soup" while we were self catering and did just what I've said above. You could have easily mixed it in with some pasta and sprinkled over some fresh (feta) cheese to make a wonderful pasta dish.
I've just added the soup as an example - tomato soup - self catering in the Livas Hotel, Pernera, Cyprus
Top tips...thanks. TBH I intend doing as little cooking and shopping as I can, I do enough of that at home. However food shopping 'in the sun' is always more exciting. Always gone AI the last few years when the kids were younger, so I have visions of going through huge amounts of money just on food!!
BTW the soup looks gorgeous!!
