mandrem is good. baga taxi driver sorted me out 1 night for 1000 r. lovely beach which was very quiet and hassle free in april but not sure about other times as the beach huts officially closed end of march

Can't remember what they are called but if you get a taxi to take you to Rock Bites Beach Huts then walk down to the beach, turn right and the beach curves away to your left. At the very beginning of this stretch of beach are some great huts, owner makes his own Feni too which is very good. Think we paid about Rs 700 a night for the two of us last time we were there. To be honest they are all good around this area (Ashvem) but look before you buy just in case!

If you want really posh try Yab Yum (also in ashvem).

There is also a place that has hot tubs in them not stayed there myself as they were £'s but I know a man who has. Can't remember the name (they look a bit like a small version of the telly tubby house without the grass- I'm sure someone knows what they are called).
