We ate a couple of times at Sublime and it was very good. You do need to book though as it gets very busy and Chris explained that it depended on when you booked as to where you were sat, i.e. inside the restaurant under cover or in the garden. The second time we went there was a major power break and the whole evening was conducted in candle light. I have to commend the staff as everything went really well considering.
Souymens is still for me one of the best restaurants food and service always fantastic.
I95 again very good and they have made some changes to the menu to keep it fresh. Loved the Bombaby Smash cocktails - certainly slept well after a couple of those!
Razzas in Arpora very good for local cuisine and I would certainly recommend if you are in the area. They do a really lovely tandorri mixed platter which is great for sharing.
Mermaid in Candolin was a new one for us this time, on recommendation. Again really enjoyed our food there and the service was excellent.
For breakfast Orangeboom in Anjuna, lovely fresh fruit, juices to die for - and if you are really missing it a brilliant fry up. I love the fruit curd & muesli the best. It is on the road to the market on the right hand side as your are going to the market.
The only bad food for us was at MIX in Arpora - chicken cooked from frozen and not properly cooked - won't be going back there again.
I would suggest two others at opposite ends of the scale.
Soumyen's Kitchen - In my humble opinion, the best food around the coastal strip. Certainly not the cheapest and the ambiance is average but the food and service are superb.
The Plantain Leaf - more cafe than restaurant and an absolutely wonderful vegetable thali will set you back 70rps (last yrs prices). It's usually the first meal I have when I get to Goa - I know I'm on holiday when I've had one of those!
I hope you'll do a review once you return.
Souymens has been recommended by a few people so I'm keen to try it.
I plan to write a very long and boring trip report, including restaurants reviews, to bore the pants off you all when I get back
New place for breakfast or brunch. Highland Beach Road - turn up by Fishermans Cove and walk as far as you can until you reach black iron gates, through there is a little restaurant, excellent value. At the moment No name.
Roma I agree heartily with both of those recommendations have i been in Goa too long 'HEARTILY' where did that come from... the herald maybe??
Where is Souymens and Rising Waves please. They've both had good reviews on here and we'd like to try them when we're there in 10 days time. Thanks
Souymens is in a side road off the candolim road, coming from calangute head toward candolim and when you are almost at the big temple on the right, that has recently been extended you go down the small lane almost opposite ...it is signposted and its down there on the right, not very far....Rising waves you keep on toward candolim and go past football ground (market opposite) and it is tucked away on your right behind some buildings there.. go through to the back where there is seating

You're not kidding!! A few samples:
Black grape & ginger juice
Avocado, mango and orange blend.
Orange and banana juice. Just SOME of MY favourites. Often go to Orange Boom for breakfast..
And here it is: (opening times: 08:30-15:30)
Tookatuktuk, the only thing missing from your picture is the dog who was always asleep by the gate each morning that we arrived! - Orange & Pineapple or Orange & Pomegranate are my favourites, OH liked the Black Grape with ginger also. We're probably shooting ourselves in the foot recommending Orangeboom, it will probably get packed out now!
Well I'll certainly try it!
tut, at that market up the road
..er No! No! No! I REALLY mean
Never saw the dog when we arrived, Miccie - maybe it was checking out the Miccie wrote:We're probably shooting ourselves in the foot recommending Orangeboom, it will probably get packed out now!

Looks like the secret is out now I have used Oranjeboom since 1999 on my first visit, fresh juice after a hard days bartering on the market, you can`t beat it
Thanks Chilly for the directions, will certainly try them both out, along with a few others that have been recommended on here, when we arrive, a week on Friday.
Shining star beach shack on baga beach!!! Absolutely best butter chicken!! Tried loads of diff shacks last year and it just didn't compare. The guys on there are great is it still there this year? Next door to st anthonys? X
Breakfast nearly everyday...Plantain Leaf.....Puri Bajhi...out of this world and costs next to nothing...
What's a puri bhaji?!
Google is your friend.
I would describe it as a very light and thin yorkshire pudding.
Personally I prefer a bacon buttie for breakfast but for a starter for dinner, well...... bring it on !
Anybody know any directions to Sublime ? my friend lives in Saligoa but does not know where it is.
