Hubby & I are taking 2 of our grandchildren to London, at the beginning of next month. We've booked 2 nights in a hotel, paid for the train tickets, and tickets for Shrek the Musical. I'm now starting to worry about the terrorist threat following the death of Bin Laden. Would you go?

Helen my family travel into london every day and we just condition ourselves not to think about the threat we have lived under for years .

It wouldnt bother me any more now than it has done since the London bombings and if I had to travel in tomorrow I wouldnt hestitate .

Larger , high profile events make me a bit jittery , but secuity is much better than you think . For everyday touristy stuff No I wouldnt worry.

My friend and I booked to go with our 11 year olds away back in January. We go on Saturday and were worried after the bomb scare on Monday, but we refuse to let anything spoil the weekend. We've agreed that if we feel uncomfortable that we get out of the area and move on. My friend in London is pretty sure we'll be ok and that she has confidence at how our intelligence services seem to foil things.

My husband is working close to bond Street at the moment ,.Last week Covent garden . He Didnt know anything about any bomb scare when he got home yesterday .

Thousands and thousands of people just go about their normal lives in London without any idea of what the security services pick up on .

Nobody is ever going to guarantee your safety at all times, you can only remain vigilent and as groovee says if at some point you feel uncomfortable , get out .

I remember traveling home on the packed tube after the fireworks on new years Eve. suddenly unnerved by the sheer number of people heading home on the tube I felt we were very vulnarable at this very point on such a high profile night . I'd spotted this guy with a rucksack on his lap and of course couldnt take my eyes off of him . He had it open on his lap and kept fiddling with it . I went 3 stops like a nervous wreck , not wanting to worry my family before he finally took out his Ipod , plugged it in his ears and set his bag down .

You feel really stupid after but that's what the london bombings did to us , we are suspicious of everyone on the tube but we have no choice ,we just have to get on with our lives and put things into perspective .

Dont worry , enjoy yourselves .Everything will be fine .

Can anyone suggest somewhere nice to eat near the Apollo for wicked where 11 year olds would enjoy? We'll be there on Saturday. TIA

Also in the Drury Lane area please. We'd like somewhere child friendly for an early evening meal, before going to the show.

There's loads nearby Drury Lane, last time we ate in The Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Cafe Rouge which is near the strand end. But there was lots of different places which were family friendly like pizza express, wagamama and I think a pizza hut.

Thanks Groovee. We've been to this area before, but always just hubby and I, so have tended to eat in nice restaurants. Those places will suit us just fine. Thank you.

Had a fantastic weekend, the Mayfair Holiday Inn was close to where we needed to go and we felt very safe. We ate in Prezzo in Victoria then wandered round the station as the girls fancied the shops and I ended up getting a nice eyebrow threading just outside new look which I was very impressed with and very cheap compared to what I normally pay. Wicked was AMAZING!!! We only had one moment where I felt we may have been a target for a gang and they seemed to get peeved off that we hung behind them walking slowly that they made off. But nothing happened but glad I was on my guard.

Went to Covent Garden and we were really disappointed with Candy Cakes. They were so stale and horrible which felt like a waste of £22 buying them and drinks.

I have a review of the hotel but there is no listed one for it, and I don't remember how to get one added, can anyone help?

Looks like you had a good time Groovee. Can ypou or anyone else help me with tickets for the underground please. Hubby & I are going to buy either a day or 3 day travelcard. Our grandchildren are 9 & 11 but look 7 & 9, do they have to pay to go on the tubes and if so any idea of price please?

Hi looks like you might just get away with it if they'll pass for younger, 5 - 10 year old travel free, 11 and over charged at child rates
