Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.

Just booked package holiday with jet2 and now feeling rather apprehensive. We usually travel with Thomson or one of the big names and have never travelled with jet2 before.

I have been reading some very negative reviews on other sites about long delays, old, dirty aircraft and poor customer service and am now feeling very nervous. We are travelling from East Midlands airport to Tenerife. It seemed a very good package with free transfer to resort, 22kgs hold luggage included and 10kg hand luggage allowance.

Any feedback from members who have travelled with them or any reassurance about the quality of the aircraft would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Marge8,

Don't worry, Jet2 are fine for the most part. The aircraft are a little older than most and the interiors are a little tatty on some of them (some have been refitted), but are highly maintained and more than adequate for the job. Seat pitches are slightly better than with Thomson (an inch or so). Jet2's punctuality has been lacking recently, but that's not to say your flight will be delayed. Overall, I've no hessitation in travelling with them and when things did go wrong with a flight, they were more than helpful in getting me home. I'm sure you'll have good flights and a great holiday.

I flew with Jet2 twice last year and would not hesitate to use them again if their flight times suited me - and that's coming from a nervous flyer!

I'm looking forward to my first flight on Jet2 - never flown with them before! I imagine they're comparable with most charter airlines though, if not better in some ways!

Have a great time in Tenerife!

Hi Marge8.

Over the past 6 or 7 years, we've flown with Jet2 two or three times a year all over the place. Never had a complaint and only ever been delayed twice in all that time. Yes, planes can be a bit tired-looking and they fairly cram you in but on short-haul we've never found that a problem.

Happy holidays!

Jock.

Thanks everyone for those reassuring comments. :thanks

I don't know about fairly cramming you in. Jet2 definately have a couple of inches more legroom than Thomsons and Thos Cook.
When we flew to Lanzarote with them on a 757, they did have rows at the front of the cabin with 34" pitch which you could prebook as an extra as well.

I am presuming that my flight from east midlands to Tenerife will be on a Boeing 757-200 Darren?

Marge8,

I need your flight number to check but assuming you're on the the LS633/4, it's a Boeing 757-200.

dazbo could you please tell me what planes i will be on in may flight no LS715 from edinburgh and in june to alicante flight no LS583 thanks the fatboy

FATBOY,

Are you travelling via a tour operator? The flights aren't showing on the schedule that's all so it could be a charter. It should be a Boeing 737-300.

Darren,

I don't spose you know which routes Jet2's new 738 is doing? I've seen it knocking about at MAN (poss the ALC flight?) - but wondered if it's positioned elsewhere?
Reply
Benjamin,

It's doing some of the longer and higher density routes out of MAN at the moment such as Tel Aviv (LS907/8), Budapest (LS897/8), Malaga (LS809/10), Mucia (LS863/4) and Rome (LS791/2). It's only the same inside as the -300's, just with a more updated feel.

Iain1967,

Welcome onboard :tup
GLA-TFS-GLA (LS155/6) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).
