On arrival i realise from going to florida before that you check in with a visa card. Well the only cards we have are prepaid dollar visa where you load dollars onto it, also have visa debit card as well as cash. Can these be used for inprint on arrival, also are they accepted in the states.
Thanks
I think if you hand over that card it will keep some of your money back so you cant spend it.. Better way for me to explain it is if you have a debit card & say you only have 500 pounds in it & depending where you stay will depend on how much they hold.. so if you want to withdraw money from you bank if you dont have enough over what their holding you theoretically have no money as your funds are in limbo somewhere..
I read somewhere once this happened to someone & it took them overdrawn etc & their money wasnt released for days after getting back to the uk..
I decided to get a credit card for our last trip to America to avoid this, However was asked for it on check in when we got to LA but didnt need it in Vegas whichs where i originally thought we would need it..
We went to Florida to Orlando in 2009 & wernt asked for a card, i think you have the option in some places to decline charging priveleges to your room & they may not require the card..
Anywho you may know this, lol.. sorry.. where in florida are you going?
So in answer to your question i wouldnt be giving them a prepaid card as you wont have access to your spending money.. I think anyway!
Some hotels will accept a cash deposit if you don't have a credit card.
I am wanting to go to fairfield and suites just off I/D, appears to have good reviews.
When i looked on their web site it states credit card in print to be taken, so not sure how i am going to go about it. The last thing i want to happen is get to checking in and they refuse me.
I emailed the main Marriott hotel link which isn't their own site as been told they have not got one. When i mentioned the pre-paid i am pretty sure they do not understand what i am going on about.
I never had this in other Orlando hotels, well not all of them.
Thanks Bubble for your helpful reply

You used to have what Michellle? Sorry I don't understand.
luci
You could always maybe consider getting one just to take on holiday for this reason?
Also i think as theres not much to be charged to the room, (like in some disney hotels you can charge alot to your room through your key card with some hotels i think) hopefully they may get back to you & say your ok.. I think some hotels dont mind this if your room is allready paid for
A credit card luci lol
