Hello!
My boyfriend and I have a 2 week self catering holiday booked for July 2011. Neither of us have been to Tenerife before and so are unsure of how much money exactly we should take. We were both thinking of 800 each and that would allow us to go to the water parks etc as well as eat out every night. I wondered does this sound like a good amount or too much? (or too little but I hope not!) Also we are staying at the castle harbour apartments and I wondered what the situation is with safes? Are they in the reception and if so do they look very safe?! I have also read that it depends on who you book with wether or not you get a privately owned and cleaner apartment than if you booked through an agent I wondered if this was true?
I also hoped someone could give us some other recommendations of things to do whilst there, weve already planned to go to Siam park but are unsure of what else to keep us busy. We are a young couple but were not up all night every night types!
Thanks in advance!!
Can't help you with the safe query but can perhaps help a little with your others.
Very difficult to guess what you will spend, but, for example, if you had an English breakfast every morning allow 5 euro, snack such as toastie daytime around 5 again then 30 euro for a reasonable evening meal including a couple of drinks, thats 560 euro each for 2 weeks and thats being generous.
If you stay around Castle Harbour some nights they do a whole take away chicken + chips + bottle of wine for 6.50 (I think)
When eating out look for the places doing 3 courses for around 10 euro, they are good value.
For stocking up on drinks, snacks etc there is a large Spar in the shopping centre 2 mins from you.
Plenty of bars/restaurants on the El Mirador strip not far from you either.
For trips Siam Park is a must, about 30 euro, you can book tickets at Status excursion shop just down the road from back entrance of Castle Harbour and there is a free bus operating.
Also you must try the whales & dolphins excursion, you can book at one of the little cabins down at Los Cristianos harbour, that should be around 20 - 25 euro. Plenty of round island trips if you want to see more of the island.
There are banana boats, paragliding, loads of things to do and of course plenty of days on one of the many beaches
Taxis are reasonably priced, or you can walk all along the promenade into Las Americas.
I did think we would be taking plenty of money but today you're never sure everywhere is so expensive these days!
me and my husband went there this year in january and have booked again the safes are safe and cheap to rent. the restaurant is good we got a full chicken ;chips and a bottle of wine to take away for 6 50 euros.the only thing you have to pay for the sunbeds unless there is some in your room. and they have a water manchine so u can fill up your water bottle which is cheaper than the shops . hope you have a good time we did
