Am going with my friend to Turkey for a week in June and have read that Hisaronu can be a bit on the waspy side
I've bought some wasp repellent from Boots but wonder if there's anything else I can do to make the little darlings stay away. I won't be eating candyfloss, nor wearing perfume during the day or wearing luminous yellow.
I'm afraid I'm an 'arrgh there's a wasp' and run type
Just in case, the market on a Saturday do a great line in replica trainers and track suits!

I'm with you on that one. I run from Wasps. Everyone says stay still and they won't hurt you but I know 100% that isn't true! Fekking things! I once got bit twice on the neck, it looked like Dracular had got me and it was very painful too!
I haven't noticed wasps in Olu in June,I have been plagued by them in August though. Think you should be ok that time of year.
Its available in supermarkets and small shops and is what the locals use.
I always stock up with it when I visit Turkey as its very affective against all flying insects.
It used to be around £1 when it was sold in the 100ml spray bottles. The only time I have noticed wasps in Turkey has been in October.
Thanks for all your help folks - Fingers crossed it's too early for them
I'm sure June will be a bit early for them . I am terrified of them and I was well into my 40's before I got stung (was always too quick for them ). When I did get stung, it caught me unawares and I didn't think it was that painful so now I don't tend to run about like a maniac when I see one. Gx
Am just glad we have 22kgs judging by all the anti flying critter stuff I'm taking
You can get some Citrus on the Market at Hisaronu, Glynis. It works for the mossies.
Yeah we are taking Citronella for the mozzies it was the wasps that will annoy me more believe it or not Hopefully we are too early for the wasps - will let you all know (you'll hear the fuss I'm making )
My gut feeling is that it will be too early for them in June. I have been to the area a couple of times but later in the summer. They didn't seem to come out in force until August. So fingers crossed for you
They are a pain, at Lykia we ended up eating in an indoor restaurant rather than an outdoor one towards the end of one holiday.
My son 'batted' one away rather violently with his napkin, as they hadn't left us alone for 15 mins and it more or less landed in someones soup and the tables weren't on top of each other either. That was the final straw for me.
At the Belcekic Beach the staff used to put a small saucer of raw coffee on your table and set light to it, that used to keep them away for a bit, probably better than spraying with a load of stuff when near food.

@ the soup. Poor burger who found it floating though
