I start off by reading the inflight magazine, then progress onto my book, or a crossword. If it's a longish flight and there's 4 of us, we also have a game of cards. Mix that up with the inflight meal and the bar service and we're sorted. :tup

I spend the first 30 mins or so waiting for the plane to crash - once we are up in the air and cruising I relax a bit and might read but struggle to get stuck into a book because I'm a bit on edge with every odd noise or bump. My 5 year old plays her DS or watches her little DVD player.

Watch a movie, play with the video screen, go for a walk, try to read, give up trying to read, listen to music on my MP3 player, play with the video screen, watch a movie, go for a walk, up to 12hours of misery. It gets worse the more flights I take. :cry

We only usually do quick flights and there isnt a lot of time to do anything on a 2.5 hour flight. I have a look through the inflight magazine and decide that everything is far too expensive to waste money on. I might have a look at my book but like rachaelb44 every little noise or bump stops me from getting into it properly and I cant concentrate. Ill buy a cup of tea and concentrate on that for 10 mins whilst eating pringles. I also go through my bag several times still checking for passports, tickets and money :yikes My daughter usually has a colouring book, a puzzle book and a sticker book so we will have a look at those for 10 mins. I think I mainly just sit and watch (am a big people watcher) and decide who is just as nervous as me ;) Hubby will be asleep within 10 mins of take off (no matter what time of the day we leave) so he is no company at all and daughter will just chat the whole time. Its amazing how quickly the flight goes really :cheers

We more often than not fly on aircraft with no ife so watching some tv is out. I look at the in-flight magazine, have a listen to my ipod, read my book, look out of the window and enjoy the meal and a drink or two. I also have to get up to stretch my legs so go off to the toilet. If we're with sis and hubby we'll have a game of cards if we can manage it :think

I do look at the inflight mag first of all to see if I want to treat myself - I have a book - and do watch bits of the movie, but usually too nosey to take much notice, and want to see whats going on around me and also look out the window

i am one of them ones that is bored before they have even shut the doors!

I read the aircraft magazine, a paper if I can be bothered to buy one at the airport, maybe read a book (on the flight back from Thailand I read the whole book), sometimes do puzzles..but I can rattle through them quite quick...sometimes listen to my ipod, sometimes watch the film.but generally dont bother..and spend even more time clock watching thinking "how long is left". I can never sleep on the plane and although very relaxed...I am never relaxed enough. I like to try and psot stuff out the window as Rob always gives me the window seat because he hates being cramped in. When the kids came with us, it was always me they sat with so therefore I had to amuse them! ( I still take a pack of cards, even though they stopped coming with us a couple of years ago)...

Chuff knows what I will be like when we fly to NZ....

I get bored very quick too, firstly I browse the in-flight magazine and decide what snacks to buy as kids always ask for something :duh even though they take plenty of sweets with them, I hate walking around the plane having to wait in queues for the toilet so I tend to just sit bored out my head even after reading take a break, the last flight with Thomas cook was the worst as there was no IFE so nothing to watch, I hired the psp's for my daughters but they were a total rip off but kept them busy :)

4+ hrs is the worst flight for me but its the destinations I like going to so have to bear it, but going to Benidorm for the first time in october so that wont be too bad.
Hubby goes mad because im a people watcher too  cant help looking at what others are reading etc

Try to get settled, then realise the sweets are still in the flight bag, which has been put in the overhead compartment!!
hubby has a wobbly. Look around, look at the magazine to see how much a coffee and bottle of water is and if there is IFE whats on? Go to speak to hubby...too late he's asleep already. Keep checking how long till we land. Feeling stiff so decide to go to the toilet, taking my time walking down the plane. Shut my eyes for 10mins. Thank God we are nearly landing.....Caz

With great difficulty Courtnee Louise. The last time we flew long haul we had seats in the middle with plenty of leg room, so sis and I sat on he floor, with our hubbies in the seats, and we played cards that way :tup

One thing I've learnt is not to look at my watch too often. I now try not to look at it until I think at least 2 hours has passed :think

Shirley I tell myself the same! I think 'Oh gosh, were probably still in Bristol and I've looked at my watch about 20 times, stop looking!' :rofl

I would love to be able to have a nap on the plane but far too nosey to shut my eyes and relax even though I feel really tired from being up most of the night before with excitement. I do envy the ones who can blank the distractions and catch 40 winks right through the flight. I do bring a book, MP3 player and puzzle book with me but get a bit bored after the initial look out of the window.

OH sits with MP3 player and reads The Sun paper whilst looking out of the window, daughter usually bags the other window seat, got MP3 player on and head stuck in a book bought from the airport. My son is the only chatty one, he gets a bit bored so a pack of cards and a puzzle book sorts him out. We all have the inflight meal as it passes a little time.

:rofl Me too.!
I stick my mp3 player on as soon as possible, close my eyes and pray I can fall asleep.
I doze off and wake up thinking I've slept for an hour, when I look at my watch I've only cat napped for 15 minutes.

I skip through the in-flight magazine, not really interested in buying anything and just sit there for the rest of the time so bored and wanting to crawl up the sides of the plane after 2 hours.

I'm another 'I'm bored' as well :rofl I usually fly with either hubby or my friend and both of them can put their heads back the minute the doors closed and s-l-e-e-p. Me, I'm shuffling about being a nuisance. Rummage in the bag - Ipod in, Ipod out, - more rummage - book open, book shut and back in the bag. Nosey about see who's wearing what and how I wish I'd worn my identical shorts/top/shoes but left at home :rofl Then another rummage in the bag as I've seen someone get their sweets out - so I will :rofl
Quick glimpse at watch as am sure there's only 30mins to kill only to find we've just been in the air 30mins :( So start the whole fidget programme again. :duh

Glynis..that is SO me..I reckon I must drive Rob nuts.
Sometimes, there is a little gadget I can play with, like with EVA air, there was like this whole mini computer thing you could play with..which I tried every puzzle out they had and then followed where the plane was in the world on the little tracker screen on the back of the seat in front..

Rob was not impressed when I prodded him to tell him we were over Afghanistan!!!

That had me laughing out loud Glynis, mainly because it's exactly how I am.
