Hi I will be flying to Montego Bay from Gatwick with BA on the 29th December, I have pre booked my WT+ seats 14 J&K, does anyone have any information on whether the seats are good, bad or ugly also what system is it for the movies ?

Thank you

elliemaybelle,

Seating is personal preference but WT+ is pretty good. Your flights (BA2285/6) are operated by a Boeing 777-200/ER. IFE etc is detailed here and should be an aircraft with AVOD.

I have just got a quote from BA - Manchester to JFK flight no`s are BA1553 and BA1552, I understand this is BA flight operated by American Airlines on a 757.

Please can anyone tell me exactly what this means, will we get drinks and meals provided etc and how are the seats arranged are they 2`s or 3`s by the windows.

Many thanks

The first thing I would do as it is a code share (BA provided flight number on an AA airlines flight) is actually check the AA web page (link below) to see if flying on the AA Flight number is cheaper than that quoted by BA. Quite often this can be the case.

The link also under travel details will give you information on the service of AA.

Do not expect personal entertainment screens on this flight. Seating will be 3 and 3. Expect to pay for all alcohol.

katiesmum,

You'll find information on American Airlines on the dedicated American Airlines topic. They offer a similar level of service to BA. Flights are indeed operated by a Boeing 757-200. Seats are configured 3-3 in economy, a seat plan is here. Information on onboard facilities is on American Airlines website.

Help ! We are booked on a flight with BA with Celebrity Cruises and are a little confused re the check in procedure and the weight
restrictions. We have tried to check it out with the BA site but wanted to check with you all as well !

We have 1 bag for 23kg we check in, plus hand luggage (that can be up to 23kg???) and a small handbag / camera? :think

We can check in on line 24 hrs before we fly and then jut have to print out our boarding card. This means that we just drop our bags off on the day? We can check in about 2 hrs before the flight - not the 3 hrs the cruise line suggest? :think

This may sound basic but we have normally flown with Thomson or First Choice and this is all new to us ! Celebrity and our TA haven't really given us any help at all so we have sorted ourselves out so far ! Just want to make sure we are right ! :duh

Thanks for your help :)

Presto2,

The hold baggage allowance is 23kg. You are allowed a piece of hand luggage (maximum 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, up to 23kg but you must be able to lift it in to the overhead locker unaided) plus a laptop or hand bag. If your camera won't fit in to your main piece of hand luggage, then it should be fine as a 'hand bag'. If you check-in online, you just drop your bags off at the designated baggage drop off desk on the day of your flight, just like you wuld when checking-in normally. It's a bit like checking-in, just for your bags. 3 hours is the recommended check-in time for long haul flights, 2 for short haul. Between 2 and 3 hours though, you'll be fine. Just have in your mind the time of day you are travelling and the length of queues at security etc. Travelling with Thomson or Thomas Cook isn't really any different to travelling with BA really, they just have slightly different baggage limits and the addition of online check-in.

Thanks Darren, that is really helpful. Oue flight goes from Heathrow (first time for us from there!) at 7am so we thought that we would aim to get to the airport at 5am to drop our bags off . We are flying to Rome. Does that sound ok ---- 4am for a relatively short flight seems early! We have already booked our seats on line.

Presto2,

2 hours should be fine but bear in mind it's the busy season.

For Manchester that would be plenty early enough, but am wondering if Heathrow Term 5 is going to be busier. Have never flown from Heathrow so it is very much the unknown to us. We are staying at the Radisson Edwardian the nght before so aren't too far aeay. May play safe and go for a 4.30am drop off !!! Thanks for the help :) :)

Presto2,
Terminal 5 is a great terminal. We are flying from there on September 5th (06:50 to Athens) - exactly one year since taking the same flight - and have no worries about dropping our bags off 90 minutes before departure. The system is smooth and hassle free at T5 unless there is a strike, snow or other disruption - the best experience checking in and boarding that I have ever experienced. Now that the BA cabin crew dispute is settled and the chance of snow minimal, I would not be worrying with allowing 2 hours to bag-drop and pass through.

Cheers,
Ralph

Well, thinking about it the only thing we can be sure of is that it won't snow --- well pretty sure of ! ;)
I suppose we're edgy because we've never flown from Heathrow and the only thing we've heard about it is the
bad stuff when there are problems. Decided to go from Heathrow to ensure that we got a direct flight to our cruise so
we hope the gamble pays off. Looking forward to the different 'experience' and a change of hotel (which is so much cheaper than Manchester!)
I think the lack of information from the cruise line or our TA has caused some issues so we've done all the researching about what to
do ourselves - its been like the blind leading the blind - may as well book direct next time !

Fingers crossed it all works then !! :tup

Will be flying on BA 2167 from Gatwick to Tampa, November 2nd 2011 in Economy, have been told it's a 777 200/300 series; can you advise good seat numbers (there are 2 of us).

We do not want to sit over the wings as it's a day flight so would like to be able to see something if possible?

Returning on the BA 2166 from Tampa to Gatwick, night flight so 'quieter' seats are better than the view.

Would appreciate any help... :)
We are flying down to Gatwick from Manchester on the BA2903 and returning on the BA2904 17th November.

Check out http://www.seatguru.com

Seat choice is subjective but you will get more views from those that have been on the B777 on that site.
