Hi there,
I have just book a holiday for myself and my girlfriend to the highland beach in January for my 21st
I'm just wondering on the best places to eat and to go out for entertainment
Also a rough price guide for meals and drinks for a two week period
My girlfriend isn't a heavy drinker and i do not drink at all just to help with the pricing information
Thanks in advance
Matt
there are a couple of threads on the forum about places to eat which you might find useful, the Highland Beach has got a lot of restaurants and bars nearby so you will be spoilt for choice... Meal and drinks are very cheap but of course vary according to where you go and what type of place you want to visit (tourist or local restaurants) but both are cheap compared to the uk... most main meals in tourist restaurants average around 190 to 300 rupees and drinks are very cheap maybe 100 rps for a g&T 70/80 for beer, juices and soft drinks about 80/100rps or so depending where you go. Also the beach shacks do great food and you can chill there for breakfast or lunch
Entertainment consists mostly of bars and restaurants although there are a few clubs about particularly in Baga, you can get a taxi there quite cheaply.
Check out some of the many threads on this forum for more info maybe
Hope that helps

Highland Beach gets a mention in several different topics, if you use the search facility at the top of the page you will find them quickly, worth searching for ''highland Beach' and also 'HBR'.
As Chilly mentions it is worth having a read through the threads for a lot of good info from the many regulars.

Thanks Guy's much appreciated i'll have a look now
Two can eat extremely well for under £10 but you can splash out on fine dining experiences for a fraction of what you'd pay in the UK. Without drinks no more than £25, with drinks add another £10 maybe.
We have spent less than £1k for our month long holidays and that includes everything. You won't need to spend on taxi's but it is worth checking out one or two places. You might find someone willing to share a day trip to one of the northern beaches which tend to be far less densely populated than the Baga-Candolim strip. A day out, depending on distance was about £20 last year. A bus ride and ferry crossing to Panjim is great fun and highly recommended, cost for two less than £1.
There are some negatives about Goa that you will experience for yourselves but as of last year the positives still way outweighed the negatives. You'll have a good time and I'm envious of anyone going for the first time, particularly if you haven't been out of Europe before, as it's so different to anywhere else.
Enjoy !
cheers Dave
